I just did 23andme. Nobody on my mystery father's side will talk to me. Nobody trusts me. It's disappointing. I'm taking a step back. At least I know my ethnicity now. It explains a lot. I'm 57 and will probably never know more because of suspicious cultures.

It may be disappointing, but you also have to see things from their side - you basically came out of no where to them. The same thing happened to my uncle a long time back. He found where his father's family originally came from (another country) and when he went to visit, they avoided him. He found out later, a relative had died. He showed up right at that time and it was thought he was just another relative showing up to get money. You can go onto Ancestry and see if there is public tree so you can at least trace your father's side back further.

Don’t give up! I did this in 2015 and didn’t get close relatives until 2019! It was so disappointing and hard. I was able to find my father with no clues except he had sex with my mom in 1982! Upon meeting him I was able to assist a DNA cousin locate his mother through my father’s DNA. The older generation tend to be skeptical with this new technology but in time some younger relatives will be curious! The holidays and new year is when most surpluses of DNA results happen. Just stay encouraged, you don’t need to frequent the site but keep some faith the right person will connect to you! I’m sending you the loving vibes with encouragement I needed. ❤ 🤗 ❤

I found your story exactly when I needed to hear what you had to say. Thank you for sharing. Im 74 and my 1/2 brother is soon to be 80, we just found each other after all this time through Ancestry DNA. I had found my birth mom and her side of the family. I visited, and while I never had a deep connection, at least I knew. But she told me she had also given up my older brother, as she had me and asked me to continue the search. I did but I didn't know his correct legal name after he was adopted. We are going to meet this next week near San Diego, CA.

Good luck on your continued search. As my adoptive parents had passed I did a DNA test some years ago to find out my ethnicity- always said I was Heintz 57. Found some close matches but they never got back to me. During the pandemic I was contacted by my now known niece. She put me in touch with her mother & after a long chat on Facebook discovered that her dad was my dad. I’m the middle of 4 half-siblings. My dad had no idea about me but he calls me every day. I just booked my flight to go to his 92nd birthday in January. It was such a blessing to find the family. My birth mother has passed & haven’t found any close relatives on that side. I have friends that findings their birth parents was great but some not. I was always okay not knowing as I was excepted like I was blood with my extended family and was grateful that I had been adopted. So glad that lady found you!

I am adopted also. 1967 was a closed adoption. I did my Ancestry DNA about 15 or more years ago. Since I had no luck finding people, I wanted to know my ethnicity which turned up good news. Years after knowing my DNA Info, I received an email through the Ancestry website for a close matching blood relative in New Zealand. I'm in the USA. I've since had other 1st level matches, but no one else has info or wants to converse. The older I get, the less likely I am to find parents and siblings. I do keep touch with my only known blood relative in NZ. I hope your searches turn out better for you!

She sent pics of my father who is deceased, he'd died months before I was born as he was very much older than my mother (he was the same age as my grandfather), she sent pics of all my siblings (8 children total by 4 different women, me being the youngest), and my grandparents. You are so brave to start and see this process through. I can't imagine all the feelings that come along with this...but I am glad you're able to face this head on and show the way to others. You are blessed, I hope you find all you're seeking. My mom didn't know her dad that raised her wasn't her dad until her biological dad had passed. She found out in time to make it to his funeral and meet her family, but not her father. His children confirmed that he wanted her in his life desperately, but her mom cut contact. She says meeting her siblings helped her understand herself so much better. My mom rarely cries but that's one of the few times I've seen her cry was to talk about that ordeal. I pray for your strength and peace as you continue this path💗💗

I would've never known you went through a tragedy like that because you have such a kind heart and you're always smiling. I'm still sitting here in awe like I wish I could hug you right now. Is it possible that there may be a footage of your birth mom putting you in the van? I also would've loved to hear what Ms.Robinson had to say about finding you.

You click on the closest relative and click the shared relatives column and take note of who the shared relatives are . Go to the next closest relative and to the same . By figuring out how the closest relatives of shared relative groups are connected , That’s how you find who your parents are . Your brothers and sisters will likely be half siblings , they’ll come up as first or second cousins . Pay attention to the amount of cmg. You share with the relative . Also note the shared relatives to determine maternal and paternal . Work both sides , you’ll figure it out in no time

My mother never knew her paternal father nor did she ever ask her mother who he was. She never got to meet her birth father’s family before she passed away. The amazing part, we found them and my brother used to work with her half brother and never knew they were related. It’s amazing how DNA helped us find our family. I’m sure if you keep digging you will eventually find your birth parents. Good luck with your search!❤

My parents were married, but divorced before I was born. My father's side didn't come looking for me, I had to go looking for them. So even if your parents were married, you can still have relatives that don't care, but sometimes you do find one or two who do. So don't dispair. God wanted you here or you wouldn't be here and if they don't like it too bad. No one asked them.

I have 2 new (distant) cousins. One is a 4th cousin. She messaged a few of us. She had never heard of our surname until her dad took the test. Turns out that one of my great grandpa’s younger brothers was his father (the mother was married at the time and my great granduncle was a milk man). Yes, we have accepted them into the family. The other one is on my mom’s side and a 2nd cousin. Her grandmother and my grandpa are siblings. Her father was my grandaunt’s son. I messaged her because I didn’t recognize her name. Also welcomed into the family. Hopefully your biological family is also accepting! Looking forward to seeing any updates!

She found her mom but the dad is prob not going to be found at this point bc of her story. Im so thankful that you have your parents and im so sorry that happened to you. I can't even imagine what you must feel inside but you are a strong one even for speaking on this on this platform. So proud of you and i know you have prob helped some that wouldn't speak on this. I was wondering if you was related to your adoptive fam in some way bc that is something the friend of mine found out as well. Oh great the reporter tried to help you. So amazing! Your smile when you spoke to the person that found you in the van. Wow. Did your uncle have any explanation for you? Im sorry if i missed you saying. This one got me over here in tears. Thank you for sharing. You are so strong and i wish you the best finding them or getting more answers!

I did ancestry a yr ago April 2023 and I found out that I'm not the daughter of a man I thought was my dad. He died in 1999 and I attended his wife's funeral in April 2023 and the pieces fell into place. There were whispers for years but no one said anything to me. I couldn't sleep for 2 months and I'm still searching on my own for the real sperms donor. My mom is alive and about to turn 83 in a few days. I have mixed feelings about confronting her but I also know time is of the essence and not promised to anyone. I've told two of my 5 siblings from.her. I know who the family is that the real Dad is from right around the community. I don't know what to do though. Somebody HELP😢 I'm sure he's deceased. I've been connecting dots to that side of the family but I haven't pinned down who he is yet. I'm probably all over the place here but any advice is welcomed. Thanks to all.
