It's may 1945, a few months before the capitulation of the 3rd reich. The advance was halted and severely slowed down due to the failure of operation market garden (which was bound to fail) and thus thousands of innocent civillians died of starvation due to the aptly named 'Hongerwinter' (hungerwinter). If the Canadians wouldn't have saved our asses in north- and south-Holland, a LOT of other people would have died. And we are still gratefull for that to this day. Thank you Canada.

The western half of the Netherlands was held until the surrender; this was the most easily defensible for the Germans, but also for the Dutch prior to occupation. The northeastern half was liberated a bit earlier in May and in April (apart from small towns on the northern coast).

Netherlands was liberated in 15th of Feb 1943, when Germany gave Netherlands all of northern France.

For really tough naval invasions, use regular (not amphibious) tank divisions with mech. Getting ashore isn't the hard bit; it's staying ashore. So just use the best land-fighting division and don't worry about the naval invasion capability. Build up a stockpile of nukes, line up your invasion, and then hit both sides of a port. Nuke the provinces you're going to land on four or five times each (you can just click the nuke icon several times) and also nuke everything adjacent to the port and to the provinces you're landing on. Just don't nuke the port, because that will wreck your supplies. Your landing will get ashore instantly because the recently-nuked troops have no organisation. Then start attacking the port from both sides while pushing inland a bit to protect your perimeter. The enemy will not be able to break a perimeter held by strong tank divisions and you should have enough firepower to take the port pretty easily - you'll be attacking from all sides, the enemy will be out of supply, and you'll have air superiority and shore bombardment. Once you have the port, and you're in supply, you can expand the perimeter. It's pretty easy to design a division template as a human that the AI can't touch (e.g. 40-width modern tanks with mech; 11-6 mech/artillery) and then you can just push through their armies regardless of how big they are. The only question is how many of them you're going to kill. The alternative approach is to invade the port directly and use nukes to force your way ashore, and then put the port repair to the top of your construction screen and choose the construction repair focus. You can usually repair in time to get supply through to save your army. Sometimes I've had to go to free trade and Extensive Conscription to get all the construction bonuses to be able to repair fast enough (late game you have tons of PP, so go to a really high conscription level, build up a big manpower reserve, then lower it for the duration of the repair and you can easily raise it again before the demobilisation gets your available manpower to zero). I tend to find this technique fails more often than surrounding the port and nuking everything else, but it definitely uses fewer nukes.

The comments all say 1945. I'm not a native speaker so as I understood it, the question "when was the Netherlands liberated from the Germans?" to me was an euphemism for "when did the Nazis conquer the Netherlands?" (or liberated them from non fascist rule). So does anybody know?

That would be "When was the Netherlands liberated BY the Germans", if the Germans are the ones doing the liberating. Also, if you don't mind the critique, it is more correct to say "a euphemism" instead of "an euphemism". Even though "euphemism" starts with a vowel in written English, the syllable "eu" starts with the consonant sound [y], rather than the typical [i] vowel sound indicated by "e". Same goes for Europe/European (i.e. "He has a European Passport, that makes him an E.U. citizen.")

14 september 1944 American troops liberate Maastricht. On the 17th of september the allied troops fight the battle of Arnhem. The north of the Netherlands was next and got liberated in April 1945. West Netherlands was the last part that got liberated on the 5th of may 1945 at 8:00 in the morning

I attempted to do the easy achievement of United Netherlands.... It got me into a war with the UK. And France. I annexed them both with my epic gamer netherland powers. Then I was attacked by Japan. I took them too including all of China. Then I got into a war with the USA because they joined the allies. I never got the peace deal.... I never got the achievement........

gimme your credit card number It’s pretty easy if you go democratic and form your own faction with the Benelux and the minor democracies. Then you just take the decision to unite the Benelux and the two times I asked them they accepted.

@@pilum3705 oh ok epic. But the save I had is a failure. Its 1956, the USA is overpowered, and it's impossible to do a successful naval invasion with the USA's 800 divisions. I defeated their navy and have a foothold in Canada. The only problem is their pure strength. I staged a coup in California to see if I can get a good foothold in the mainland USA. Italy flooded a thousand shitty divisions and sucked up all of the supplies and fucking destroyed the coup. I dont even know why I allied Italy.

gimme your credit card number Ok, just restart it and you should be done before the Germans attack you and if you want to play it safe you could try to wait for the German attack because I think they have a higher chance of accepting when you are in a war together. But save up on your political power, the decision to unify the Benelux is 300 PP.

Maybe you could manage to get “Treading a narrow path” too if you do it smart. I failed because the Germans were too strong and beat me after a year long struggle. But if you are early you could try to beat them with the help of Czechoslovakia and the Scandinavian countries, which will join you most of the time through your focus. And if you manage to beat Germany you could try to form the EU as the Netherlands, which would be fun.

put snorkel on your submarines if any enemy has warships only put radar if the enemies have no military fleet left i tested this thorougly and if the enemy has even crappy 1936/'39 DDs with poor depthcharging ... your subs desperately need the lower visibility versus 1936 DDs my subs with radar took big losses same combat but with my subs equipped with snorkell results in almost no casualties my subs were able to flee / deal more damage till they got sunk in conclusion: always go for shnorkell unless the enemy fleet is gone

@@netherlandsball5801 first time I played Netherlands on historical focus the uk went with communist coup and I got all said achievements in 1939 before ww 2 started. Edit: It was my first game after the man the guns dlc.

The Netherlands liberation started in the second half of 1944('Hunger Winter'). And was officially liberated in 1945 4-5 May('Liberation Day, National Remembrance Day)

I replicated this strategy on 1.9 with La Resistance, and it worked even better. Germany gave me even more french land, and sooner. I was able to invade the UK, simultaneously with Italy, after taking out most of the Royal Navy.
