Thank you for your transparency. Thank you for being so blunt and tell it how it is for so many millenials that have been kicked off and also back with family. Fight, stay strong.

Thanks for your video. Got laid off out of nowhere on Tuesday and I was blind sighted to say the least. The worst part is my husband is unemployed as well so this is gonna be an interesting few months and hopefully we can find something soon

thank you for sharing!! I'm so sorry to hear that you were laid off and completely blindsided by it. I hope you take some time to think about what's next and apply for unemployment as soon as you can!

Sending all the love and support! It IS SUCH a mind f***. Forced unemployment led me to freelancing for quite a while (and We Are Rosie was a lifeline during this time, highly recommend signing up - it's free), and then without looking (because I had gotten very satisfied with freelancing) I landed my current role which was very much a pivot from what I had done previously but I love it. To your point, this time can be a bittersweet refresh-- here's to you getting hired
@FirstGenMoney11 ай бұрын
yes I remember this period in your life -- because of you I signed up for We Are Rosie, I just haven't used it in a while. Going to check it out again, because that's exactly what I'm thinking I need right now, the freelancing to hold us over for the time being. Thank you for the support, Analisa ❤

Hello. I watched your video about how you prepared for a possible lay off because my company laid off 200 people in January and 1,900 people in April. Given that I know the budget shortfall, I suspect that more lay offs are coming. I understand how you are feeling. It's tough to weather the job hunt. I experienced this when I moved back to my hometown at 45. The emotional state ks a tough one. A few thoughts: Reframe how you think about living with your in-laws. In the past, multi-generational living was a norm. Try to think of this as a gift of time and experience with your in-laws and your parents. You're already thinking about exploring your interests outside of work, and I would say to try to keep that going. We have been taught that work defines us (and being a first generation person, you may feel that doubly), and we are more than a job title. Hugs to you!.

thank you so much for your lovely message! yes, reframing has definitely helped during this time. that's so many people they laid off!! ughhh I'm glad to hear that you've survived two rounds but agreed that maybe more layoffs are coming.

It can be super tough to navigate being laid-off. Total mind games and over-thinking. You are going to be just fine - and you will most definitely find another job in tech marketing - if that's what you decide you want. In fact, I bet hindsight will be 20/20 and you're going to find yourself in a way better place!

Thank you Kate! Yes, sooo ready to put this behind me but also taking in these moments. I know it won't be forever (even if sometimes it feels that way).

Stay strong. Keep going. Things will get better and you will have learned a lot. Especially about yourself and how you can overcome obstacles. This will make you stronger.,Sounds cheesy, but it’s true. This time will make you stronger.

If it helps I have been laid of 2 times, and both times I got another job. In addition, there have been occasions I have interviewed and thought... I am not going to get an offer... but I did.

thanks for sharing! right so many times I overthink and turns out I didn't do as poorly as I thought, sometimes we're just too hard on ourselves.

When I changed career fields back in 2012, it took 7 months to find something, ANYTHING. I took a 75% pay cut, and I'm a single person. I wasn't making a huge amount to begin with, and then to have it cut by 75%... I also didn't have a spouse to back me financially while I looked. I, obviously, don't know you, but maybe it's time to stop thinking about all the jobs you're not getting in your field and just take "A" job in the meantime. Maybe find something that you think would be fun, while you continue to look for something in your field of expertise. It would help bring in money, and it would go a long way to remove the pressure that you're currently putting on yourself. They always say it's easier to get a job when you already have one. I don't want to be rude, and perhaps I'm way off base, but you're kind of coming across as "poor me" and "here are all the things I can't do because I don't have a job in this one particular field." Also - "we're just married and we want a house, and..." I 100% understand. I'm not taking that lightly because it would be kind of awkward and "cramped" to be newly married and living in Mom and Dad's house. I get that. Unfortunately, life isn't always roses and rainbows. Perhaps there's something to be learned in this season of life. I'm wondering if this kind of "victimhood" mentality is coming across in interviews, and it's turning potential employers off? I don't know, I'm just putting this out there as something to think about. What about volunteering while you search? That might be an attractive attribute that will turn an employer's head when you talk with them. You're not just sitting around, you're out in the community helping others in their time of need while you interview for your dream position. Like I said - it's just something to think about. I wish you well in whatever lies ahead for you and your husband.
@FirstGenMoney11 ай бұрын
Appreciate this comment! Totally see what you mean about the victimhood and that's why I hesitated to share this video but truthfully I don't feel like a victim at all. Some days it just sucks but other days I'm just lucky that I'm getting a chance to really think about what I want. This is just one of the many videos in the last few months of consistent posting we're I've shared how I'm really feeling and yes, that means also sharing the shitty things that come with unemployment. We (my partner and I) completely see this as a growth moment for us and feel completely privileged to have a roof over our heads. On the jobs outside my field -- 100%! I took an ice cream job early in my lay off period before my unemployment benefits kicked in and I've also started applying to jobs outside my specialty so for sure agree with you on that point!

Are they allowed to hire someone else when you’re laid off? I thought they had to bring you back because I layoff wasn’t based on performance. Anyway that sucks.
