Definitely its like most of these calls. It's never can I get a £100 refund for an item not working but can I get £10000 for hurt feelings that its not working. All talk radio is car crash watching. It's what the listeners want

John sounds pathetic. You can’t help being 6’3 but you *can* help recording a working class member of hotel staff while they’re just trying to do their job

I think it can be ok to go with your gut and record if you think someone will do something bad. Better to record and not need it than wish you had recorded. He might get bad treatment a lot if he "looks like a thug".

I think it can be ok to go with your gut and record if you think someone will do something bad. Better to record and not need it than wish you had recorded.

@@hencole People are often on their best behaviour when being filmed if you really think it's baiting you can always record without them knowing then it's not baiting is it and just because something isn't normal doesn't make it wrong.

@@hencoleby the sound of it the recording was audio only and not the type where a camera is shoved in your face. I record the majority of my calls with letting agencies and utility companies and all calls where a dispute is involved for me records and so that i have proof of the interaction. In no way is it “baiting” to want to protect yourself from those you are interacting with.

John is a pain but if the words were reversed, it wouldn’t go down well for employee. Twitter / X storm for a few hours and employee would be suspended. Cant bring up race like that. I would be sacked / suspend for that.

Even if he can't prove that the refusal to change his room was because of race (such that it isn't direct discrimination), this could surely still amount to harrassment related to race under section 26 of the Equality Act.

I would imagine there would be an issue if the room wasn't supplied due to race, but highly doubt that. I do imagine he does like to get his own way though, and will be a bit abrupt to get there.

I think he went to the wrong place with this. He was meant to go to the Agony Aunt in the Daily Mail newspaper. Who cares if he got any photos of the room? Surely a few photos of some dinghies would suffice?
