He is quite talented actually. His teachers just seemed to skip basics completely and just told their students to start figure drawing which is one of the hardest things you can do. They literally expected a skinny dude to go into the gym and told him to lift the heaviest weight he can find and pray his body doesnt snap in half. It seems like his teachers scared him away from art with their teaching methods, atleast that is what it looks like to me.

As an art student myself in college, looking at your drawings, you are super great at capturing texture and values (highlights and shadows). Art takes years to get the hang of, and nobody ever truly finishes evolving their skills, which isn't bad! It just means there is so much more to art than skill, and so much learning and experimenting to do. I'm sure if you took the time to develop your linework skills more, you may be happier with your skillset!
