I own a lot of Rado, and I am in the states. Always overlooked for not looking EXACTLY like every other brands offerings. Being an architect, I love the Diastar New Original shape. So organic, so architectural, and the light play is second to none. They are anything but ordinary, and there's nothing worse than ordinary. The guy wearing the watch that didn't follow the heard of sheep, that's the guy I want to have a conversation with.

Most definitely !! I remember my dad owning one gifted by my uncle who was working in Qatar 🇶🇦 back in 1990 . Most of my serious uncles had Rado The originals Gold versions. I remember thinking back then it’s an ugly egg shaped watch it’s only when my father passed away my mum handed me my father’s Rado Diastar Jubile The original in 2004 .. it’s then when I started collecting Rado’s.. After owning over 40 rados I gave gifted sold most now I only have the pieces I wear .. I’ve owned Rolex day date & omega speed master moon watch but Rado has its own feelings Excellent watches ..

Probably one of the most underrated watch brands out there, and these definitely stand out as unique among the watch brands. I can't understand spending much more than this for incremental improvements in watch movements, and at the expense of the top notch advanced materials used in these.

I always liked watches but couldn't justify the cost for a big brand until the day I saw it in a jewelry shop window. The Rado Sintra Chronograph. I was mesmerized. I can't explain it but I saw myself in that watch. That was my first "serious" watch after a steady stream of Swatches. It is still in my (modest) collection, still love it and still wonder why this line isn't getting much love from the community.

Hi The Time Teller! Speaking of time... in 1985 I was living in a rooming house and a guy moved in who seemed to me (armchair analyst ha, but of course kept that thought to myself...) a classic case of ADHD. I mean he was so high strung he was about bouncing off the walls, about 25 yrs old. Even his laugh sounded like a machine gun! The rooming house was an old mansion in disrepair. The "landlord" was actually a charitable organization that had a small office on the ground floor. There was also a garage/servants quarters abandoned from yesteryear. So this guy, for no pay, just renting a bedroom sharing the kitchen like all of us... was very hard working all day for no pay. He started raking, pulling up weeds, clearing overgrowth, and transformed the yard nonstop into a very nice space. He also went into the basically abandoned servants house and 4 stall garage and was cleaning and tossing damp moldy stuff left behind by the charitable organizations former residents. He transformed the place and tossed a lot of garbage! He did such a good job some moved in for the warm months and rented it! It became a party house ha! There even was this beautiful old cadilac el dorado from about the late sixties all covered in dust! He saved an old couch left in the alley by an apartment complex dumpster. He took a garden hose and soaked the whole couch down, a white one that long lost its whiteness. He used dish soap. He gradually transformed the whole couch, actually a very nice expensive looking one. He'd for hours jump up and down and squash the soapiness out of it as the couch gradually looked beautiful again. He jumped from every angle and scrubbed to the point of... it made me wonder how extremely intense he could be. So yah, bouncing off the walls and literally bouncing his way not into oblivion but more into a kind of resurrection, a recreation, his own bouncing dance like some master of transformation ha! This old piece of trash looked like it could be in some Sixties retro era museum echoing the Bauhaus movement ha! You could envision "Twiggy" posing on it for the cover of Cosmopolitan ha! He said he kept hearing a rattle in the couch as he'd flip it around to clean it over and over. He decided to find out what the rattle was. It turned out to be a Rado DiaStar watch! I'd never heard of it as I don't know much of anything about watches. He said the little red symbol, once he very first held it, started spinning rapidly around on its own! This is a watch that had no battery. It seemed such a marvelous kind of magical watch, wild and spinning in its own bouncing play with time on some kind of a high ADHD of its own machine gun laughing back at me and my armchair analyst follies -- kind of like a manifestation of who he was! He set the time and it even started working, and spot on, like him ha! He took it to a very wealthy part of the city, to the best jeweler he could think of. They were amazed at what he found. Even other customers came over to take a look. The jeweler said the Rado DiaStar was so elite they didn't even carry them! He said check in some bigger city than Minneapolis and probably a jeweler in Chicago or NYC. I was very happy for him. I don't know what he ever did with it. In a couple of years I moved on. I think the jeweler said it was from the early Sixties. What do you think that watch is worth today, or what it was worth then? What makes that symbol spin around? Is it maybe a self-winding watch? I wonder as that guy was eccentric and seemed to have an altered state of consciousness and hope he wisely found an honest buyer. What makes that little symbol spin around like that! It was a watch lost for who knows, 25 years! Did he maybe go from rags to riches? I ask this now 37 years later ha! Your video transported me into the past! Your title made me click on this video! Thanks for this video. Watches are such amazing pieces of mechanical engineering! I found myself liking to watch what watch restorers do on KZbin. It's relaxing to watch them work and hear them use special terminology and tell about what they are doing, explain what all are watching ha! Your video was fun and timely interesting! Sorry I got carried away. You spot on timely transported me!

Rado is an odd brand. I don't know how to place them - they are on the same level as Ball, Oris and Longines, in that upper mid-range bracket that is always awkward to define; not true luxury but not just mid-range either. I have a Captain Cook and love it, it's a gem, but I'm not so sure of Rado's other offerings, which seem a bit dull and unimpressive.

I've owned a RADO Centrix Diamonds with a gold and black ceramic wristband since 1999. It has 1 diamond at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 positions and a sapphire crystal. It's very sleek and classy. The watch case is only slightly thicker than the wristband which gives it a very low profile on your wrist while being eye-catching with its back and yellow gold contrast. The wristband clasp is gold with "RADO" laser engraved on it. It also has calendar movement which is set by the first position on the winding knob. Time is set by pulling the knob to the 2nd position. The only drawback of this watch is it is battery operated rather than kinetic self-winding. It's a stunning watch that gets attention without looking desperate, or gaudy. I also bought a carbon and gold ring, and onyx and gold tie clip and cuff links just to complete the aesthetic with this watch.

I just got a Rado (The original automatic gold with the bracelet design of gold and black in the middle) from my Dad about a month ago and at first I thought the design was weird and it really screams with how shiny it's gold finish was... To be honest I never heard of Rado before so I didnt know its rich history and the reputation of the brand. I just thought it was just another watch until I looked it up and kinda shookt me to the core on how expensive it actually is and how uniquely built it is... Now I started to appreciate it and it grew on me. I'm just a bit baffled at how underrated this brand is and how little people also know about it (well maybe that it's just where I'm from). I'm also surprised at how brand new the watch that I have because my Dad bought it back in the early 90s when he was starting to be financially better and thought that he would buy it as a success present for himself. Little did he knew tho that he would pass it down to me 20 plus years later!

I bought a Citizen Promaster Blue Angles GMT on a metal bracelet for 300 cdn from Amazon's black Friday sale . The BJ7006-56L retails for $575 cdn here so I think I got a good deal. I've always wanted this watch. I love the Knurling on the crowns, the daily and the fact that its solar. I really dig modern day tool watches. Also IMO anything over 800 bucks cdn today no longer qualifies as a tool watch. If its over 800 bucks its too expensive to EDC and I don't mean wear to the office. I mean where while you go fishing and the go nail some boards on a house or something. Something you know is tough enough for abuse but if it isn't you didn't just drop a mortgage or a car payment out the window.

I know this is almost completely irrelevant to the video, but I’m a welder, and I wish someone made a welder’s watch. A watch that is designed to be burn and heat resistant. My g shock would work fine, but the weld spatter leaves burn marks on the crystal. I suppose that possibly wouldn’t be the case if it had a sapphire crystal, but regardless, we have dive watches, pilot watches, etc. we need a welder’s watch lol.

I recently spotted a Rado Captain Cook in Macey’s of all places like the blue one in your video. Tried it on and I have to be honest it impressed me considering I knew nothing about the brand. The watch has a character to it while still having that splash of modern retro class. The leather butterfly strap is very comfortable and is definitely quality. I have to say it hits above it’s price tag. Sporty, but kinda dressy. It’s a master of none, there are better divers out there with richer histories, watches that would be better suited as a dress watch, or something with more useful complications, but I still find myself wearing it more and more than some of my other timepieces. Can’t wait for your review on it.

I own a Rado Arosa day/date in indigo blue, a Rado Freiger, and a Gold Diastar Skeleton day/date white dial. And a Diastar Pakistan special. They are beautiful watches that are rather addictive. They had so many variations.

I have a Rado Diastar Model # 658.0659.3 Ser # 10191289, Silver dial, ceramic case that my Dad bought, I think in 2004. I've had no luck in getting an accurate estimate about how much its worth. The corner of the ceramic case that holds the bracelet is cracked, so I would also like an estimate on how much it would cost to get fixed/replaced. Thank you.

Rado Original DiaStar has an amazing history. I would say it should definitely be up there in the 'Most Important Rados' category, along with Captain Cook. I have one that's around 30+ years old and it LITERALLY HAS NOT AGED! Looks brand new because of the use of scratch-proof tungsten carbide case. And in Pakistan, Rado is basically Rolex 😂

Excellent video, they are very nice dials, though if I'm right they're mostly small diameter so might look small on my 8" wrist. Talking about size I have my first G-Shock Mudmaster arriving next week, really looking forward to it!

Picked up a Manhattan 1965 reissue . . . I actually don’t regret it. It’s no Rolex but it’s a fairly unique thing.

Got a rado original diver and a green 42mm captain cook. Both are great watches. The original diver is probably the most robust and well made watch I've ever seen. They tend to be blingy , but are definitely original by design. Rado are a Truely great Swiss maker , up their with the best in my opinion.

Is the next market bracket over hamilton and mido. Starting at 1000 ending at 5000. They look good but the cost is a little bit too much for not been that special. I would love the captain cook with transparent . Or the bronze red dial

Could you talk about franck muller or qlocktwo? some weird clocks but I love the personality they have. (I know some people think they are 'SUPER' ugly but I feel like its more hit or miss)

Is that icon under 12 rotating along with the movement? You can see it shifting around in the edit / product shots. That’s pretty cool if so.

Beautifully made watches with an almost cult following in India, Pakistan and some other Asiatic countries. I own a Diamaster model, which has had a few issues with its auto mechanism now resolved thanks to an excellent after sales service, which, under the Swatch standard, has shown that it's customer satisfaction that really matters not just profits.

I really like Rado, I got two Rado watches, one is my late father’s Rado DiaStar and the other is a Rado D=Star 200 with blue dial. Both watches are awesome, accurate well constructed and beautiful. I’m a huge fan of your channel, greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

Today I purchased RADO R14073182 after weeks of search and now I can say RADO watches are so special so differentiate when fully done in ceramic. I can find them on someone’s wrist with no mistake

As you rightly pointed out, they are very popular here in the UK. Unfortunately they make a lot of black / white ceramic models that look more like fashion pieces than serious watches but there are also lots of mechanical gems too. Glad you’ve seen the Rado light! It’d be great to see you review some in the near future.

I have been very guilty of dismissing brands because of preconceived ideas formed about them, but watching guys like yourself on KZbin I am re-evaluting and discovering some very good watches. These type of videos are important. keep it up. I have never given Rado much consideration and I come from the UK. There are a ton of watches I would prefer to the Capt Cook though for the money. I don't get the design when viewed from the side.

You know, as a traveler, I only saw ads in Asian Malls for RADO. So, I always thought RADO was a Japanese brand. They were always on posters in Malls next to Citizen, Orient, and Tudor. (I did know Tudor was a Western Brand). I always thought of RADO as an expensive Japanese Lux Watch Brand. LOL!
