The 'Those United in Common Cause' is played when you have to fight against all of your friends you made throughout the DLC, so it is very emotional, and within the context, makes it so much more powerful in my opinion. They have voice lines throughout, which reminisce on past actions and situations, and that fight was the best in my opinion, just from the atmosphere.

The story is not shallow, it's actually quite deep. Instead of it being exposed to you in film format like other games do through cutscenes. It is exposed in written format. Like books. Item descriptions hold most of the story. And the environment shows you the rest. But it isn't presented to you directly, it's a puzzle you need to solve. Sure, you may not like it, but it doesn't mean it's not there.

Bro, the one part of Romina, Saint of the Bud you compared to "Mosquito sized Angels" was symbolizing the butterflies she's able to conjure and I absolutely think you could call them that xD Midra's theme definitely is the most unsettling theme in Elden Ring and I love it, always get chills from it. I hope you'll do another one because there's still some absolutely great themes left and I kinda wanna recommend the more overlooked ones, like Putrescent Knight, St. Trina (which is one of my personal favs) and Metyr, Mother of Fingers (also very unsettling but for a completely different reason)

For context on "Those United in Common Cause", basically you meet all these npc's throughout your journey that are following the same path as you; to find Miquella. On this path Miquella has abandoned everything in order to ascent to a god, including his love. His initial wish of making the world a better place gets twisted and soon his divinity wouldn't be a good thing anymore. The npc's you meet and do quests with and get invested with get charmed by Miquella right before the final boss. You fight them to this music, as they all give a speech of how you're a traitor. It's very emotionally heavy and the theme supports that perfectly

Midra's Theme: A broken man, shepherd of a sickly yet peaceful flock. Bloodied, beaten, brutalized. All is lost, all but repentance, faith, and a shaken yet unbroken vow of peace. But, in a final cruel and deathly blow, wholly undeserved, the once noble shepherd falls, his will to resist the cruelty of the world well and truly shattered. In that dispair, something truly sinister and evil is born from the sins of man, made martyr. Madness, an unyielding cruel flame, a lovecraftian outer god of chaos from beyond the stars trespassing upon the world of man. Each pulse, a shockwave. Each heartbeat, an occult chant, heralding the impending doom of all things made manifest.
