yeah that can happened with lack of lubrication due to the owner rev at max revs with low oil or bad ship oil or some coolant on the oil or excessive moister in the oil and or a bad oil pump ,,, some times a new used intake cam or head can resolve the problem instead of a whole new engine but, obviously that depends of the condition of the cylinders and pistons ,, when a cam brakes there is 50% chance of no interference, because the intake valves are only open when the gas pedal is depress at idle the valves are only open at 5 degrees of the eccentric shaft so that is like 5 mm open, that is enough clearance for the valves not to be bend at TDC

Wish I knew this before I replaced my n52. Had an intake camshaft break in half around cylinder 5-6 . I just swapped it

@@almightyp97 If you had known that it could have been fixed, how much would it have costed you? And how much did the engine swap cost for you?

@@byungkwanlee9463 well it depends on how deep of a repair you wanna do. If I were to fix it I would’ve got a timing kit with gears for about $250 the timing tools $150 intake camshaft with new bearings $200 so I could’ve gotten away with the repair for around $600-$750 but me personally I would’ve also added extra goodies like valve stem seals, exhaust bearings, and hydraulic lifters that probably would’ve boosted it to about $1200 repair but I would be able to sleep better at night lol and I found an engine for $200 but I had to travel about 3.5 hrs away to get it . Install took 3 days and cost me a total of $600 with new gaskets like oil pan gasket intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, oil filter housing gasket ,and valve cover with gaskets. Fluids too oil with filter coolant and transmission fluid .

You didn’t even do leak down on it the valves might have been fine if your lucky
