I love the way you two weave the scriptures into our current problems of the world and us as individuals. As a non practicing lapsed Christian Aussie living in the UK, you are slowly reintroducing me back into the wonders of the word of the bible again in a soft and gentle way that is practicable and relevant to the struggles we are experiencing today. And Dawn has got me obsessed with decluttering, and your channel is on constantly to help with the job; only discovered you about 6 weeks ago and have nearly watched all for the last 2 years worth. The car is full of so much to donate tomorrow morning. My problem is with framed family/friends photos everywhere. I have bought a clear box and just put them all in and only going to display 1 or 2 at a time in attempt to simplify our spaces. Now husband is checking up on everything going out the door and asking WHY are we getting rid of so much.. I was struggling with the photos too. Recently purchased a brand new digital photo frame ( from the thrift store). One frame but can view do many photos. May be an option for you. God bless.

I got a 3 inch wide binder and plastic sleeves and put all my 8x10 and 5x7s family photos in it, all my smaller photos all together too. I love it! I do have some photos on my dresser but it sure cleared my visual clutter.

I have told this story before, in 2017 I went through a major flood in my area and I got over 9in within my home and lost a lot of belongings. After losing these belongings I have come to conclusion that things are just things and family, pets and friends are the most important things we can have in this world. We can always get more things but we can not replace the family and pets that we have currently in our lives. Watching Dawn who was the first minimalist person I found really brought this idea home for me, I was looking for something completely different when I came across your channel and have been a fan ever since. (I may have told this story before so I will pre-apologize for repeating myself. 😺) When I was little, my mom was talking to a friend of hers at church. The friend told Mom that, if her house burned down and all her possessions were destroyed, she would want to die. Mom asked if her husband and children were saved from the fire, would she still want to die? Her friend said yes, without her possessions, she would want to be dead. Mom was appalled! She said in total astonishment that her friend was talking about stuff! In three or four years, she would completely remodel her house and get rid of all of her 'stuff' and get all new stuff. Just look at the fire as a chance to remodel. Sadly, Mom's friend couldn't see her possessions as stuff and her family as important.

I was in a car accident several yrs back. everyone was fine but both cars were totaled. I was stressed out by the prospect of losing my car and worried my daughter would be upset knowing i was in a bad accident. her reaction at 13 yrs old was "things can be replaced, people can't" and she was so right. it was just a thing and it could have been worse.

I was talking to my sisters and niece about decluttering and getting passionate about getting rid of those things in your closet that made me say to myself " that one makes me feel fat, I feel so ugly in that, that doesn't fit..." Everyday I would start the day saying horrible things to myself!! Then "Minimal Mom"...and saved me! After my speech about how much stuff do you want to manage, my niece said I should do Ted Talks! Nope, this isn't me talking, it is Dawn!! Thanks for the freedom I am feeling and the encouragement for spreading the word!!

The paint accident could have easily been me...I never put the cover on completely when I'm using it! I LOVE how gorgeous and soothing your room turned out. I'm tempted to buy a bed frame like yours...they're on sale at our local hardware store for $199...but my husband wants to go back up to a queen sized. We went from a queen down to a double. Only cause this bedroom set was a good bargain when my mom bought it second hand and gave it to us. 🤪

I so needed to hear this today as I am attempting to go through things that I have held onto for the last 20-25 years. I am struggling with the things I have collected from the kids growing up. They are now 27 and 29. I tried to break it down to , do I use this, Do I need this, am I going to use it or need it in the next 5 years. Needing to be brutal with the process and wanting to hold on. Thank you for putting yourselves out here in this internet world.

I'm doing the same but my children are 35 and 40 I got upset yesterday getting rid of a backpack I took to YMCA when grandchildren were little CRAZY And then I looked at it and thought what in the world was I thinking I was going to do take them to the Y again 🤪 Memories just memories I still have those without the backpack I feel like I am really getting over the hump now FINALLY GOD 1ST Family stuff

As a complement to the fabulous MinimalMom, if you haven't already done so can I suggest that you try listening/reading 'The Gentle Art of Swedish death Cleaning' by Margareta Magnusson. I found this book to be a real little gem in helping me release stuff I kept from and for my children (29 and 35 years old now). Best wishes x

Yes, it's beautiful, but . . . a bed without a reading light or place to set down eyeglasses, glass of water, etc. would not work for me. I guess I'd fail at minimalism.

You are following the gift the Lord gave you. We strive to live the example Jesus set. So he said in Matthew 11:29 “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” I think this is what you convey as you guide us. I am so thankful for this!
