Omg, Jen, you just saved me from the Make Up by Mario and the Patrick Ta palettes…. I can’t believe I didn’t see those similarities with what I have. (I’d never see how My Dream is so close). I’m embarrassed to say how easy it is lately for me to fall for the new releases and want them desperately, and people like you not only help me check these impulses but show me what comparable goodies I already have. Please continue doing this as often as makes sense! Your swatches and lighting are beyond compare. 😊

I always try to dupe the vibes of a palette before deciding whether to purchase it. I look at a picture of the palette and go 'which shadow do I want to use first?' And then try to find something similar in my stash. I do a look (or several) like that and more often than not I'm over wanting the new palette because I feel like I've played with it and made the looks I wanted from it, but without buying it.
@quietowl12462 жыл бұрын
I found delaying purchases helps so much. I thought I loved ND’s new dream palette. I delayed buying it and now I’m not fussed. I was massively overspending on make up/ beauty for years. This year the only eyeshadow I have bought is a quad from Linda hallberg cosmetics of special shades. I love using what I have now, and surely we buy this stuff to use ❤

Fortunately out of my 100 + eyeshadow palette collection I have not purchased many duds but I definitely have some that dupe each other. I've slowed down a lot on buying new palettes but now I will watch KZbin reviews on any palette I want to buy first, especially ones including swatches and dupe comparisons! You have saved me from a few purchases bc you show similar palettes I may own already! Thx for this video too. You have been one of my fav KZbinrs for a while and I've been following you for years now! Rarely you will dislike some palettes I have and enjoy but for the most part our tastes are very similar:)

For the Retro Glam, I also thought of my Lime Crime palette and agree it’s problematic. But then I pulled out my BH Cosmetics Avocado Toast palette. It’s not a dupe at all but offers the various green shades and various depths of color. Lately when I buy a new palette, I don’t get excited. So unless it adds value or new colors, I stick to what I have. My big purchases used to be palettes. Then it was skincare. Currently, I’m learning about haircare and quality styling tools. Thanks for always doing very thorough videos. You have such a specialized niche that only you do so flawlessly. I can always look to you for comparisons from every angle.

It's good to see a dark palette like the ABH Rose Metals for deep/dark skintone peeps but it sucks that it's limited edition. I happened to notice that a lot of palettes today happened to have a very similar berry shade, weird and funny coincidence. Tartelette in Bloom is such a great palette y'all. Hi Jen, I passed on the ND pallet cause of Mel’s bundle, strange how ND sure looks like what Mel put together a few years ago, just received mine, me too I had all of them but 9 shades, just missing one, HoneyDew and will get that one when they restock. SG is my favorite shadows. Bummed I can’t use them for a couple of weeks, I got a stye on my left eye underneath my eyelashes, first time I’ve ever had one so I’m on antibiotic eye drops and have to apply heat 3x a day. 🥲🥲 my Opthamologist said no eye makeup. I had to throw out my opened mascaras, eye pencils and I went and sanitized all my eye shadow pallets, I couldn’t remember which ones I had used so I just did them all. Oh I just ordered the Sigma eye brushes you had recommended on another video at 50% off then I was able to even use your code, thank you.🥰🥰

Thanks for the wonderful research you put into this video! Kick up/ fallout is the precise why I switched and primarily use Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, IT cosmetics and Laura Geller stick shadows. They blend well and you can create nearly any look… Not always as fun as playing with an artist palette, but I can say the final look has zero fallout, barely requires a primer, and is more impactful!!
