Here's something to look out for: The "Wrong" movies were all made by David DeCoteau, so almost all of them were shot IN HIS HOUSE. Keep an eye out for the same furniture popping up in every movie.

I have been fascinated by David DeCoteau ever since Rifftrax featured A Talking Cat!?! and Santa's Summer House. He directed a couple of absolutely bonkers no budget kids films, most of them filmed in the same rented mansion. If that Vivica A Fox vid happens, I really hope it includes an aside about him.

As a former cheerleader, 5 years in youth cheer, 4 years competitive cheer (or as degrassi called it “power cheer” which is not what it’s actually called), 1 year of high school cheer, and 1 year of college cheer, I can tell you for a fact that after watching all of these movies, you still don’t know anything about cheer because not one thing is accurate. But also, I devour these movies so even as a former cheerleader, I don’t care enough to be offended.
@ali.bibbles2 жыл бұрын
i love pointing out the cheer inaccuracies too lmaoo. for one, the teams rarely ever have a coach/assistant coach JUST a cheer captain. the cheerleaders have some of the sloppiest high Vs i've ever seen, and people can join the team anytime they want, anytime of the year.

Lifetime original movies actually used to have a certain amount of prestige back in the heyday of the TV movie event (so, mid-'80s through late-'90s). They did a lot of "ripped from the headlines" movies, and "Death of a Cheerleader" was one of their biggest successes. I think that is why they're still obsessed with cheerleader movies (and real-life cheerleader scandals) 30 years later.

I actually learned more about the bernardette protti case. So the true story takes place in the city of Orinda California, which is two cities away from where I live. The city of orinda itself puts a substantial amount of pressure on its students to be perfect and bernardette had an inferiority complex. She hated being constantly compared to Kirsten Costas who she saw as "perfect" and she couldnt stand it that costas would treat her badly. She wanted to win her back by taking her to a party but costas freaked out and threatened to tell the student body of Miramonte High school to ostracize Protti. That was the triggering moment where protti stabbed costas. Protti's sister had left a knife in the car so that's how costas was stabbed

My partner and I watch Lifetime movies and our theory as to why there are so many cheerleader/teen movies is because there's always a mom character on the periphery - she's way too nosy in her child's life, consistently violates her child's privacy and boundaries and/or gets in the way of actual authorities, and she's almost always rewarded by being proven right and getting to save her child's life and be a hero.

I love your insight into these types of movies. I have actually been studying them. I watch them mostly because I see same things you do. You wonder how they create a production so quickly? Its really obvious when you take a look. I want to produce a quality show in any format whether it be stage or screen and I study what they are doing, what to take in, what to leave out, and as a former database programmer, I see exactly how they are able to create these same plots over and over with a twist. Its all in a database…. No creativity and I am not talking about LT specifically. I mean ALL entertainment. I see right through it and so do you! I enjoy your input and it is very helpful to my calling. SO THANK YOU!
