Exactly. There is no suspense, no tension, no mystery as to which one of them will die. Most modern TV series and movies have the same issue... you can see everything coming from a mile away. Even when a black character is a kidnapper, torturer, child-murdering, hand-chopping villain (Space Moses from the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, for example) it will eventually be revealed that they were actually good all along, and will be fully redeemed by the end. And of course every straight white male is either stupid, evil, and in most cases: both. This sh-t is the death of mystery and storytelling in general.

This movie is getting bad reviews and the only consistent earners at the box office anymore are like Chris Nolan movies. Even Marvel has totally fallen off because of the massive drop in quality. Guardians didn’t do nearly as well as it deserved to because of the preceding tripe the MCU flooded the market with. The thing that made The Exorcist different is that it was the one actual terrifying possession movie. The rest are mostly garbage. But now they've made The Exorcist franchise a part of that garbage. I personally never understood the whole thing of 'don't explain, it'll make it less scary'. Not to say I don't understand the examples, cause I do, those examples are indeed not scary, but the problem lies more in the explanation either being poorly thought out, like in the case of Prometheus, or the explanation being shoehorned in, like logically nobody should know this information but characters just have it anyways. The only thing I'd really say in regards to not explaining stuff in horror, is that my dad always said that you should only explain what it makes sense to know; like if a scientist is working on something related to whatever the thing happens to be, then yes, explain because the character would logically know it, but if the characters are in a situation where they wouldn't know anything, then don't tell the audience anything either. We need to be on the same wavelength as the character, beyond certain indie examples I suppose.

At some point, there needed to be a scary scene where the two possessed girls regurgitated pea soup at each other, and the winner gets to eat a homeless man’s soul. Their heads spin the entire time, house music plays, and the girls are at the club, so lots of neon lighting and smoke. Also, John Wick is in the club fighting demons, as he does because he is now cannon after the Devil ate his dog. John will not have much of a part, he is just there to introduce the audience to the cross over, but the twist is, the Matrix universe is part of the franchise now.

are you mad at the movie or the fact there’s black people in the movie?
@robertfaulkner1824 Жыл бұрын
@@camp5040 that there’s black people in a movie I’m sure. No it’s actually the portrayal. It was they would obviously bring up white “entitlement” somehow and they black family would be portrayed as selfless. It’s like how for decades white people loved Denzel Washington and Wesley snipes in movies because (with some notable exceptions like Malcolm X and white men can’t jump respectively that were obviously going to go into that territory) there characters had little to do with the so called “black experience”. They just happened to be black and the movies were just good. Now we act like it’s some new upsetting phenomenon when it’s really dumb crap like race swapping all these familiar (up to and including a character name “Snow White”) and just low effort preachy hack BS. And now it’s also impossible for a movie like Amadeus to be both historically accurate AND nominated for awards. But freaking Black Panther which isn’t even one of the best marvel movies gets nominated for best picture just cause diversity. And to be clear precisely ZERO marvel movies should be nominated for best picture. It should actually feel patronizing to black people but I guess not. Any of that seem like fair criticism or is everybody just a big dumb racist?
