I moved the breaking News scene right after when Peter brings Gwen home, and then the sad music title card comes up, and i deleted the trailer title card, because it's just filler at that point. I deleted the pointless monologue of gwen, because we have f***** eyes! Why eplain it, if i can just delete his voice, and replace it with music that supports the scene, instead of just pointless dialogue. You'll get the same thing across with showing it, don't tell. I watched this movie like 10 times, or more... But I'm still editing it,so yhea...... Sure, editing won't fix the bad acting, but atleast its a lot better then it originally was.

The fact about the goblin design is that, it is actually the same as the comics , One thing the Sam Raimi's version did well was the Goblin Design
@justoneguy2487 Жыл бұрын
The main issue with a comic accurate live action Goblin suit is the mouthpiece part of the mask - in comics and cartoons, it moves naturally with Osborne's mouth and it can get away with that because it isn't attempting to mimic realism. But this isn't feasible in a realistic setting (Norman couldn't just slip on the mask and have the mouthpiece attach to his lips) thus translating it 1:1 to live action comes with the risk of looking goofy, as shown here. That's why the mouthpiece is static in Raimi's film, though it is semi-transparent so we can see Norman's actual mouth moving underneath.
@aericabison23 Жыл бұрын
@@justoneguy2487I generally imagine the comic book GG mask as being some type of sticky plastic that holds onto the contours of Norman’s face. If I made a Spider-Man movie, I personally would have made the mask sort of like Batman’s cowl, except there’s a visor-like covering that makes the wearer’s face look greenish.

I liked the movie a lot, to me it was one of those short story Spider-Man comics come to life. People complaining that it didn't have much action didn't get the whole point of the movie. A couple things: 1. The scene where Peter is late for the movie and kept Harry, Gwen, and MJ waiting happened right after his fight with Shocker; it wasn't a flashback. This is shown with the preceding establishing shots showing time transitioning to night. 2. Harry walking around is really just a scene to show just how lost he is in life right now, after losing his dad and one of his best friends. He thinks there's nothing for him to live for, so he wanders and even contemplates suicide as he gazes at the highway from a ledge he can jump over. He doesn't say anything, but I felt that the actor for Harry conveyed that feeling well. I wouldn't say this is a far-fetched way to interpret that scene since it was eluded to in the previous scene where Peter and Harry argued. I gotta say, you mocking the scene as edgy is really condescending. The sequence you proposed though does sound better. 3. You didn't read the comics, and so this is pretty much a video that lacks an appreciative perspective of the source material that this film is based on, which is alright, but I do wish you would at least read Spider-Man Blue, The Night Gwen Stacy Died, and The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man. 4. People who say that the scenes with Harry and MJ are filler sound so weird, those are characters that are just as much a part of Peter's life as he is Spider-Man, their relationship is what drives their conflicts in the film to a resolution, as you should always keep your loved ones close in times of hardship, instead of pushing them away. Can they be placed at a different time or directed differently to be paced better, yes. But to take them out of the movie entirely is wrong. 5. Heroes revealing their suit by popping open their top wear is like, a classic superhero trope, it's not limited to Superman, like what 😭 How is that a rip-off in any way?? 6. This movie attempts to balance a Peter Parker and Spider-Man story by providing an answer as to why people need Spider-Man, and how Peter, or people in general, can move on from their own tragedies. While it can be argued whether this film is more of a Peter Parker film than a Spider-Man film, I personally don't mind that, as I find the exploration of personal problems fascinating as well. But to each their own. Personally, I don't think Lotus is a great film, it has tons of issues. Poorly paced, weird acting, weird dialogue, it's uneventful, but I don't think this was a terrible film either. At the very least, it looks competently made in the visual department, and a few moments hit me. Not ashamed to admit I cried. It's like, a solid 6.
@DaisiesTC Жыл бұрын
1. Yes 2. I think the main issue with this scene is the way it was shot, could have been handled better. Not really anything more the actor himself could have done to elevate the scene. 3. While this is a fair point, its also important to get unbiased opinions on how it stands on its own. A film can't just be carried by nostalgia. 4. These scenes would have been more welcomed with better dialogue and acting, and as you mentioned the pacing is pretty bad. Just the way a lot of them are cut into the film are annoying and make them feel like filler. Something that would have elevated these scenes more is if they spent more time establishing Gwen's character and the relationship dynamics in the friend group (and got a better actor for MJ lol). 5. It does originate from Superman, and it is a pretty overused trope at this point. When Sam Raimi did it it wasn't a trope in film at that point and felt like a more natural homage. Its kind of forced here, especially when the movie would have had a much more solid ending if it ended a bit sooner. Feels like they did it just for the sake of it. 6. Yeah DeadK3y's take here was pretty goofy. Most "Spider-Man" films are mostly "Peter Parker" films lmao. Joker movie was incredible and we don't see "the Joker" until the very end of the film lmfao.

As a film student, it's not the worst thing that I've seen, but it's really not worth wasting 2 hrs of your life for something mediocre and kinda boring. The director wants to capture the magic ofSpiderman, and yet the acting forSpidermann feels lackluster, certain shots of scenery last way too long to pander to offscreen dialogue. Overall, putting the hate for the creators aside, its clearly poorly made, rushed, the directing for the actors is lackluster to downright bad and just not worth 2 hrs of your life. I would love to add more to what's wrong, but this is just a small amount of the many instances and poorly made choices made for this film.

@@DeadK3y In my opinion, taking inspiration is one thing. Everyone takes inspiration from something whether it's a fan film or an original film. One of my professors at film school told me that nothing is original these days. Yet, in this case the way I see it the scene is too similar to be taken as "inspiration". It's almost like Gavin couldn't come up with his own idea for such an intense scene. The scene could've worked better if he went to all those locations himself and relived each memory like that instead. It probably could've improved the acting a lot better since now there's an actual motivation to break down emotionally. Yet what we ended up getting is a near shot for shot copy of another scene from another movie. I've seen this happen at a film festival before and that competitor ended up being disqualified because the judges noticed the filmmakers make a direct copy of another scene. So this kind of thing isn't unheard of. Those are my two cents on this part of the movie.

Sadly the mj was simply just a perfect fit look wise. She was actually pretty hot as an mj but I couldn’t understand why her line delivery was so bad and void of emotion. She had some good scenes too. But I think this could either be partially her and the directors fault for not directing her more.

Racism and all of that aside. I really dont understand why a fan film had so much hype in the first place, especially after a movie as Goated as spider verse.

You liked the part where Spider-Man was his showman persona before Uncle Ben died, right? That's awesome, because idk if you read Amazing Fantasy #15. But that's his original origin and even a Steve Ditko Suit with webwings. This whole Movie was a love letter to the comics and since you apparently don't like those as you yourself stated very firmly, maybe you should just skip it. Some movies are not for you and that's ok. I personally have the same problem with this movie that I have with Spider-Man (2002) and that being that they adapted multiple years of Spider-Man in one Movie, but mostly took the sad parts and the Misery. Pete's normally a happy go lucky type that occasionally has something horrible happen to him every 5 to 10 years. Wich is life I guess. But for this movie it worked as it's a Fan Film and nothing official. Although people like to compare it to the official ones... If we do that it's actually the most comic book accurate Spider-Man we've ever had. lol

Ok so my thoughts: Costume is a 9.5/10. I love it and the fat spider so hard disagree with that comment. CGI is a 7.5/10. Would have been more like a 9 but that opening scene was rough. Acting is a 5/10. Genuinely MJ was awful and I agree 100% no offense to the actress but she needs to take lessons if this is what she wants to do. It was rough and I agree Cringe. The Music: yep. 10/10 easily the best part about this film. The call back to the 90s cartoon gave me that nostalgia feel. While I do like the story of the sick child and the Gwen story. The execution and dialogue was very meh. Like a 4/10. Overall I’d probably give it slightly higher than what you said at a 6/10. It’s worth a watch and it’s really cool what they did for a fan made low budget film. I have mad respect for what they did.

Maybe just a nitpick, but the shocker suit looks really weird. Maybe it’s cause the suit is dark yellow, but I also think it’s cause we can see the eyes. If they put white goggles on the suit, then I wouldn’t really have an issue. Great video
@DeadK3y Жыл бұрын
i think it was supposed to look goofy. in this timeline, shocker is supposedly still a petty criminal who hasn't really got his bearings on the whole "super-villain" thing like he does in other interpretations.

The problem with Lotus is that in order to enjoy the film, you should already be aware of the broader Spider-Man story (with Gwen and everything). Gavin tried to make some kind of “deeply thought provoking intellectual art piece” but failed somewhat. I also felt it was extremely stupid of Tim to have comics and action figures of Spider-Man like we do in real life. It doesn’t make sense in-universe. The most he should have are newspaper clippings and amateur footage.

I give this movie a seven out of 10 Everything was great except there was no final battle. I would pause the movie to check on the time to see if they could fit in a final battle. at the last 10 minutes, I was thinking, please make green goblin come back please be a final battle plz but you know how that turned out. But still it’s not a bad movie. I actually really enjoyed it and I got through it and one watch. 😊

The biggest sin of this movie is that it fails to capture who Peter/ Spiderman is, Peter is suppose to be this nerdy guy with superpowers but u never get that with Spiderman lotus, they failed to show us who Peter/spiderman is at his core, Peter in this movie just comes across as this edgy pretty good instead of the nerdy webhead we all know and love, the first half should’ve been about the loss of Gwen and then the second half should’ve been them picking themselves up because this film is 2 hours long and it’s nothing but depressing meanwhile this is supposed to be a superhero film

My biggest gripe with these fan-made movies is not even VFX. It's the horrible direction, godawful camerawork / lighting, and for some reason not a single good actor in sight... What the hell, man, don't they have more talented people in local theater groups?

What you said about Peter having this Superman moment, changing his costume to Spider-Man and all of that is a weird nitpick in my eyes, because that literally happens in Spider-Man (2002), do you have a problem with that as well? I really don't see what is wrong with that moment. Actually the one that happened in the Spider-Man movie would be worse, because he does that in public. I do kind of agree that the advertisement for the movie was done wrong with the coo, swinging and all, since that wasn't really the focus.

Spooderman Lutos is generally a mid-tier fan film that follows around the Spider-Man:Blue comic, Death of Gwen Stacy and Kid Who Collects Spider-Man comics. The only great thing about this movie is the soundtrack, Harry's actor and the cinematography can be a little bit jarring sometimes but the lighting can be great at some scenes. I can see why Gavin is still starting as a filmmaker but for 100k dollar budget with a mid-tier execution storyline is so dumb, but hey at least they put a lot of talent and effort they put into this film with the cast and crew. Harry walking throughout the suburbs in NYC with Shut and Dance soundtrack is so cringe for some reason lol.

Honestly I feel that they were trying so hard to be Andrews version of Spider-Man and his movies. I personally am not a fan of TASM movies but I just wish with the liberty they had that they could have done something unique that we haven’t seen before, like a new take on Peter/Spider-Man or something, but the movie overall is just blindsided by the Spider-Man hype and people just glaze any spider content now
