Say what you want about Jenna Ortega, who is a talented actress, but Christina Ricci IS Wednesday Addams. The 2nd one I think is even better, mostly because they gave Ricci a more prominent role and better lines.

@@SamuelaShannonI think the biggest way I compare them is the settings they got put in. Christina was able to put a darker twist on it cause she spent so much time around mostly adults. Jenna does a fantastic job, but Netflix just made it so geared towards children that the edge wasn’t the same. Jenna would thrive even more in a movie situation like Christina got

Both of the 90's Addams family movies were so good back then and so is that animated 2019 movie too. What you now need to do is see is the sequel to that animated one!

I find the variations among adaptations to be very interesting, save Morticia - always a willowy goth 😍 and Lurch - a groaning hulky butler. In the comic strip and most animated versions Wednesday is the younger child, but in live action she is the elder. Gomez depends largely on the actor and writing, whether he is a manic madman or smirking jokester. Thing goes from hand in a box to a legit wandering hand (I do not enjoy Thing's look in Wednesday, but the performance is great) Granny and Fester are flipped from the show and comic - Fester was Morticia's uncle and Granny was Gomez's mother.

There honestly isn't an Addams family adaption that I hate (except The Addams Family Reunion) but the rest are pretty iconic to me. I also really enjoyed the 2019 animated movie. It's sequel was OK but not as good. I really hope you can watch The Addams Family Values. Such a great sequel to the 1991 Addams Family!

I love Thing! Thing is the only non-human creature from a darker, macabre film that I would actually get a prop of for Halloween, one that wouldn't freak me out, compared to something like Chucky or some horror icon.

I think the main reason why people don't like the modern Addams family movie is because it's so...off. And by off I mean the character designs don't seem right. While The Addams family themselves are supposed to look off the other characters are supposed to look normal. These characters just look like they've had plastic surgery.
