In an interesting coincidence, my mom found this movie about a week ago. Literally the first time we've ever opened the Roku app. She made me watch it. And I knew we were in for some shit so I got high and tried to enjoy the ride. Honestly what took me out though is Santa being allergic to peanuts and expecting that child to know peanuts are legumes. I texted many adults about this and I gotta tell ya, the math didn't math.

i actually did indeed tell my entire 4th grade class out loud that santa was not real. my dad never let me believe in santa because it was a ‘sin’, i still remember my dad yelling my name after i told them all and i remember him walking me out and i asked him what was wrong with what i said. he then made a facebook post about it. still feel like shit to this day, love that trauma but i’m the grinch.

my mom is super christian (southern baptist, evangelical) and fundamentalist in her belief at times… i grew up going to both denominations and with that same thing of “santa and consumerism is anti-christ” from as early as i can remember…. halloween was not allowed to be celebrated either (she’s very ocd with her unique vegan diet so no candy until i was 13) , and i wasn’t aloud to read harry potter lol (my mom caught me with the 5th book snuck secret from the library when i was a kid so she gave up on that one…) but in retrospect, it’s a trip to think about me legitimately being that kid regurgitating anti-santa rhetoric (lol) and the odd behaviors of my mom in avoidance of common traditions and practices 😅🤔😇🤘🏽🩷💛🩵✨
