I think I needed this right now. My brother-in-law is a good kid but recently fell down some anti-LGBT+ rabbit hole and both my wife and I are trans. It's causing strain in the relationship when the both of us never bring up the subject but get sent anti-trans memes from him every other day. Yeah, it makes 0 sense that people go through so much effort just to discriminate and go against people who aren't exactly or who don't believe in things that they do. Pride festivals arent unnecessary, they are just as important as any other festival, would you call Ramadan, Thanksgiving or Christmas unnecessary? Pride is to celebrate the liberation the LGBTQIA+ has fought for and is still fighting for all over the world. We celebrate the people who have made it soo far, and all those we lost along the way to prejudice and hate-crimes. We celebrate the freedom to be who we truly are. What these all have in common is that they are sexes! Typically, like you said males have a XY and females have a XX. But! Unlike what you said, it's not actually done there. Female and male and intersex(genetic mix ups) are sex. What's different is Transgender and others like nonbinary are gender which is a social construct, different from the science of X and Y chromosomes. Intersex people or people with genetic mix ups can be transgender but they don't have to be as it might not match up with their internal sense of gender Internal sense of gender you might ask? Well that is someone's personal experience of gender! They may experience it on a scale of man to woman or both to neither. Incase you might still be confused, the social construct of gender is the gender norms of how society expects a man and a woman to behave. This is separate from chromosomes since chromosomes doesn't impact someones internal sense of gender or the way they dress. Sorry for all the words it's pretty complex so I tried to simplify it for you. They teach chromosomes in middle school! So of course I know of them :). I do plan to further my education with a master's but learning about X and Y chromosomes don't require a higher education. Learning about gender however can! It can require higher education (gender studies) or it can just come from talking to people experienced in this topic! It sounds like your older, so if you pursue knowledge with an open mind in the future you'll definitely know of this! (I intend this comment with a light hearted spirit so You can either take this information or leave it. You are, after all, entitled to your own opinion. The way you currently have it tells everyone (half a million views so far) that you do not support their right to exist as human beings. I'm not judging you in any way. I’m honestly super glad you could help with the first part since i look up to you so much and i wanna learn how to better things with social media stuff and everything 😅😅 I was in NO way trying to say i don’t support their right to live, because i don’t think being apart of the lgbtq+ defines you, or even identifies you! I think that its okay to not agree with something, but still respect people as human beings. it’s like not agreeing with a political party, but still respecting them. I just wanted to share the fact that i didn’t fully agree with it, because i wanted to show how you don’t have to agree but you really need to love and respect, no matter what beliefs or anything like that. i just thought i’d share this as like- a thought and my point of view since i think we can all have good conversations and feedback. They’re really useful things to help learn

Hey. I was 14 once (40 years ago) and a Christian. But we didn't have social media then. So saying "the wrong thing" didn't get us in trouble for the rest of our lives. Show love. Be supportive. Lift others up. You don't need to tell everyone "this is what I think of..." Let others believe how they want to. Love who they want to. Dress how they want to. Identify as they want to. But, love them all the same. Jesus said “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Also... "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

I have to cry over this. I’m unable to ever go to pride parades nor come out to my family other than my own sibling. Knowing that one of my favorite artists went to one makes me smile through the tears. I hope everyone has a happy pride month

I’m so sorry. I know from experience how hard it is to come out even if you have supportive parents. But just know you’re not alone. Many others are going through the same feeling as you, but you will get through it 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ (if your parents are supportive you could say a you have an LGBT friend as an “excuse” to go to the pride parade.)
