I reckon that oil pick was blocked. That clump of belt fiber in the sump 16:00 fell off the pick up when you pulled the sump, it's the same size and shape as the 'clear' part of the pickup 16:18 . Rather than the pickup being partial clear it was blocked and there's likely been some oil starvation to the bores, hence the low compression.

That belt is gone, you can buy a plastic gauge to see how much it’s spread. That Perishing.

Hi Mark. Glad "Lady Luck" Is going your way. Just had a Wet Belt done. On my Pug 2008. @48000 Miles. As a precaution. As no service history. When I bought it 3 years ago. See you in the next one. 👍👍 Cheers.

Clearing the oil pick up pipe would’ve helped, I’d change the wet belt and service it then see what it’s like

Hello Mark,well it starts,and you put new oil and cleaned the pick up pipe,the old oil seemed like there wasnt enough in the car.a new belt needed,it will be a nice car.
@richlee557814 сағат бұрын
You may have fixed it accidentally,start it running and shake the wires about under the bonnet in case theirs a loose wire but definitely change that belt and service the engine you’ve got to be on a winner with that car 🎉

Wow, you are so lucky with your purchases from copart,, but credit to you, to take the time to check the engine, otherwise £700 for a engine would have been wasted. Keep on buying and we will keep on enjoying your videos Cheers.

Hi , Mark could the system have a very sensitive oil pressure senso regardsStever due to wet issues the pick up pipe was quite bad . Now you have cleaned it allowing a better oil flow? regards Steve
@paulanderton94245 сағат бұрын
Belt needed replacing and gauze blocked. Probably that big piece in the sump fell off the gauze which was causing near total blockage? Seen this a few times on these engines. Dead... then a belt and pick up cleaned and back to life!
@Boro-Lineman19 сағат бұрын
On the original 1st crank couldn't see rpm needle whas it crank/cam sensor as that would cause no spark /ignition went back and checked no rpm needle so check connectors
@garyparker501218 сағат бұрын
Low oil pressure will cause all sorts of issues including Piston rings nipping up, timing solenoid faults,hydraulic cam followers not allowing valves to open properly and just by clearing out the oil pick up you’ve given it a chance It will need a new belt correct oil as it’s in a bad way Lucky though as could of ended up with a engine replacement if left any longer
@eddieMurphy1111117 сағат бұрын
If the timing is out, then your valves might be open when testing for compresion. Nice little car, and well done for getting it, but now I think you need extra long pliers, and you should be able to get the adapter out. thanks for the video
@peteredwards91476 сағат бұрын
I believe the original fault was fuel related, when you stripped it down and disconnect the fuel rail. This could have reset itself when reconnected. Thats why it started when it did for you, but it did take a few chanks to get it started.
@charliecoco211515 сағат бұрын
That oil needs to be thoroughly flushed to get out all of the remnants of the cambelt and the oil pump wetbelt then the sump dropped again. I reckon the engine fault was oil starvation.

The intake and eshaust valves should not be open at the same time (perhaps a small amount ov overlap). On the compression stroke,both intake and exhaust should be closed. If the belt didn't slip, why is the compression so low? When you were cranking the engine, it didn't sould like rod knock for oil starvation. Could low oil pressure messed with any variable valve timing or collapsed lifters causing low compression? What you did with the car was take the belt particles out of the oil pan.

Mark - basics first! - you still do not know if you have a spark or fuel. Surely you should have done that first. (Posted before the end of the video.). How did you get the pressure gauge adapter out of the plug hole?
