I think its less about people talking themselfs into giving up winable games and more about underestimating how capable this tear player was at throwing. Josh himself said, that he loses if the Tear player plays it well.

I genuinely think that in an ocg environment where they have the extra mill cards, this is legitimately one of the best non-fire decks you can play. There’s no point in playing a combo deck that is less consistent, less grindy and has less non-engine space than Snake Eye. But a deck that plays a bunch of traps that the 1-card Ash combo has no answers for, and that trade really favourably with any actual negates (dinomiscus/canadia both force out an omni whilst putting a resource in grave) is worth considering. It’s significantly less weak to Apo/Ash/Veiler than furniture lab, and has an infinitely better grind game than trap lab - and in general, trap cards are poised to actually put in work this meta due to the decks you’re likely to face.

I've been playing against so many Lab-Tear decks on MD lately and I still don't understand the synergy. It seems The Tears are just there to get Ash/Imperm'ed and then they just play regular Labrynth stuff to me? (Or vice versa I guess?) I actually swapped back to playing Dragon Link so I could Bystial the bejebus out of them I was so sick 😂😂

The Tear engine is for milling so you can get Rollback and other Lab cards in your GY faster.

Having spent the money to recraft my tear cards to make this deck, it's actually super fun to play. Some wild combo of control and mill gambling so the dopamine hits pretty hard. But your biggest enemy is 100% the timer, I've timed out so many good duels I still stood to win with this deck
