It's important that he is very stern about it and not trying to defend the devs talking about resources or something like that. He needs to hold the devs accountable because he's the face of the combat sports community so people will automatically blame him.

I would like to see maybe an implementation of the coach in the corner screaming “watch your left/right/etc” That would be a great experience for less experienced grapplers such as myself who have the understanding but not the time to memorize the animations and who has what options available. This also allows for a learning curve with transition fakes as the coach can potentially give a bad call and that cost you to lose position or effect stamina.

i got the von flue sub win from full guard with tony against islam the other day, i was going for a heel hook and denied his transition at the same time and it turned into a von flue so i went for it and it submitted him with only the second sub

One thing i dislike about this new system is that you can't submit your opponent on the first try, like, you get a perfect armbar and you character just let go, it's a bit disapointing but i'm glad they got rid of the submission minigame

10 months later and EA *still* haven't fixed the bad camera angle on the calf slicer (which you've conveniently cut out of your footage above probably because the camera consistently losing sight of the fighters during the actual submission looks ridiculous)... I honestly believe that the dev team doesn't actually think there is anything to be fixed in their game. They think its perfect despite still being a buggy mess since release. It makes me genuinely angry how little they care about this series now.

You hold r1 when your in a submission position. This is setup to drain someone of their stamina bar so they can lock-in a submission. It also set up in a way for the person trying to escape to wait for a good moment to cook the bar then make a quick escape.
