Olivia Domek I will say you get what you pay for. I like most of the clothes I have gotten, but pay attention to reviews and the sizing chart is gospel. I gave a lot of their size 6 stuff to my 4’9 barely 100 pound roommate because I thought I could fit it and it was just slightly too small. I’m 5’6.5 and about 150 and I range around a medium for them, except for cord and denim skirts, which don’t have any give in the thighs where I carry my weight. Some of the skirts have weird material, like I have one or two which were a learning curve but they’re fine. Tights are a no go, I’m all torso and the legs are still too short. Shirts are almost always safe, so are hair accessories. Bras I’m 34DD and fit, but would stay away from if you are any larger in general boob size.

The prices are suspiciously low. But can we all agree about how better designed Romwe's website is? Like everything looks cohesive. All the images of the clothes look like they have the same sort of editing style and stuff. While Wish is just a bunch of random photo's of the product. (Wish also steals photo's from other places) The titles/names of the clothes also make sense, and you can read them and understand what it is.

The things is, even though Romwe is cheap and their clothes are made in a sweatshop, places like Gucci and higher end brands are also using sweatshops. There are rarely any brands that don't want to cut corners and save money so they outsource their factory by going to places where labour is cheaper and the laws are more lax about working conditions. Forever 21 was busted for even having "sweatshop like conditions" in the US. So even though I agree that Romwe and Wish and similar brands like that are using sweatshops, don't overlook the brands we use in our everyday lives that are doing the exact same thing.
@PsychGirlRaven6 жыл бұрын
Very well said. Previous commenter was complaining but let’s not forget the brands we use everyday are doing the same but making a bigger profit from it.
@user-xh6bj4we5h6 жыл бұрын
Indeed! But safiya is extremely well off in the money department. It is true that in this day and age, most clothing shops use sweatshops. Despite this, we know safiya can afford to find and buy from places that pay their workers and suppliers a living wage. Also, literally endorsing and promoting these items online, in a video (you know, free advertising) is extremely harmful. She's welcoming her viewers to buy from these online shops. One person buying from these types of stores won't do much harm, but this girl has hundreds, thousands, maybe even more people who will buy from romwe BECAUSE of this video.

@Plantlady17086 жыл бұрын
Hey Saf, I've been shopping in Romwe for quite a while and you can get really good stuff you just need to learn some tricks, let me break it down for you: 1. Use the app instead of the website. In the app you can see the reviews also you can chat live with the technic support if you have a problem or doubt and they reply in seconds. 2. Tops and dresses are safe, skirts maybe, bottoms and specially jeans ARE NOT (I never had the shein problem and I was very pleased with every dress I ordered I would say dresses are very good quality). 3. Measure yourself and follow the size chart, check the reviews, and you'll almost always need one size up in tops and bottoms and your actual size in dresses and skirts. 4. Read the description of the product, it says if the fabric stretches or not, that's VERY important when choosing the right size. 5. Swimsuits and bikinis are only safe if you're a skinny to average girl WITH SMALL BOOBS, if you're chubby or have big boobs, forget it. 6. The stuff that is a little more expensive is actually worth it, like 10$ or so, it's good quality. 7. Never pay express shipping because it takes the same time for everyone. When you learn how to use it it can be very fun and pleasant, there are really nice pieces of clothings for cheap, so I think that in general it's safe and the customer service is A+

A lot of people have pointed out the unethical sweatshop and environmental cost of patronizing these clothing sites, and I agree that we shouldn't be buying from these companies (because the only way to force companies to change is to stop giving them money), but a lot of people are saying she should stop making these videos because it encourages spending money there. I disagree, I think it actually STOPS people from going there! Her Wish video at least made me stay far away from that app once I saw how bad 90% of it was! I understand that there as still people that want a good deal or can only afford to buy really cheap clothing at the moment, but I think these videos do far more good than harm. (And I really like this type of content and while I hope she becomes more educated on bad fast fashion practices I don't want these videos to go away~)

Hi Safiya ! I always end up asking the same questions. What do you do with all the extra- clothing you get during those hauls videos ? Recently you bought a lot from fast-fashion brands and up to 80% of the clothing is not something you're planning to keep and/or wear again. I love your videos but seeing you buying those suspiciously cheap items bothers me because we know they're not good products, that they are produce in really bad conditions and that after one washing cycle they're not wearable anymore and turn into trash Maybe you could do a haul videos about sustainable fashion brands to compare the products to the ones from wish/romwe. Or even a "I dressed with second hand clothing for a week" ! I would love to see that on your channel !

Honestly if the brand isn't mad in your country where you can track down and see how workers are treated, they're most likely heavily underpaid regardless of the brand or price of clothing. ie Topshop, Anthropology, whatever might have high end clothes,but horrible pay for workers. Doesn't matter what price. If you can't find out where the workers are or see how they're treated, it's most likely bad. US brands fo ex are less likely to pay someone a cent an hour bc they can b tracked and exposed.

I just came across Safiya because of her newest video (the acrylic paint one), so it's fun catching up on her older stuff. I love her bubbly personality! These cheap clothing hauls are interesting, but I really wish she'd at least mention the ethical issues of fast fashion.
@kimkanli6 жыл бұрын
Well as a person who comes from a third world country I want to say that you guys really don't need to be that overreacted to buying cheap clothes. Cheap labors are at least for now inevitable and the problem can not be solved through not buying cheap clothing. Because being "forced" to work long hours is still better than no jobs at all. It's a sad truth but it's happening all day in my country. When companies think it's not cheap enough in my country then they will move their factories to other places. And the workers in my country would be cut off their only financial resource. Refusing unethical products means that not just the cheap clothes from wish or supermarkets, but pretty much everything made in developing countries. Clothes from couples of dollars to couple hundreds of dollars( yeah not just fast fashion but also some pretty high-end stuff), some computer/smartphone parts, and even some unprocessed materials. I wish that there would be no cheap labors and sweatshops too but blaming a KZbinr for buying cheap clothes is just so pathetic and hypocritical.
@iqranoor60826 жыл бұрын
Yuhan Dong exactly! It’s so sad that it’s this poisonous cycle. It’s an ethical dilemma. On one hand, you have long hours, unpaid staff, child labour, and cheap labour which no human should have to go through but if you boycott the companies who do that (just about all) you’re taking away someone’s income no matter how small it is. The countries and especially their economies benefit from this investment. For example 80% of Bangladesh’s economy relies on manufacturing clothing for brands like primark, Zara, H&M and many others. Of course they’re not treated fairly. But, if the government stops the cheap labour or tries to increase the wages, the companies can just relocate their factories to other countries who are much cheaper. Which would not hurt the businesses at all but only harm the counties and their people as their economy relies on businesses making factories and investments. In addition, there’s also this need to stay competitive through offering cheap labour/ more workers as unethical as it is, this is the only way for most countries. It’s this endless cycle of one step forward and three backwards. A delusion of improvement but none really at all. Like the businesses don’t want the countries to become more financially stable as they won’t have to rely on them and that would decrease their profit. They want people to stay poor. Is the consumer to blame for all of this? It’s so sad that there is no win win situation or a fair solution to all this. What an ugly world. Ps: I didn’t expect this to get this so deep and dark but I just wanted people to see that this issue is much more complicated than we think.
@arishafatima37106 жыл бұрын
Yuhan Dong and the funniest thing is most of these people are showing this concern on their iPhones!
@s.c.b7316 жыл бұрын
I agree with this. And its not just about the people who produce these clothing but its also about the buyers. As someone who is from a developing country, the state i am from a majority of the young people cannot afford to buy those expensive branded clothing you get in Shopping Malls. We love fashion but most of us can afford only clothing from websites similar to Romwe and fancy second hand clothing that comes from Korea and even America and European countries.
