This laughter is contagious. It triggered me almost ten times while watching 😆. The Atlas Aquarium looks like a very cool place to have as a neighbourhood shop to pop into on demand.

Oh I love your videos Kaity, you always put a smile on my face with your cheery outlook and also the information you impart is very interesting, especially to see the fish hobby from "our" point of view in Australia, ones we can relate to especially with our, biosecurity laws, it often means what overseas channels report on can't be had over hear unfortunately. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos and your travel ones as well Tony from Rural Western Australia 🇦🇺 🦘

I worked in an aquarium when I was 13 or 14, for a few months. It was called “Black Shark Aquarium” in a Melbourne suburb called Elsternwick. I loved it. I didn’t know the owners, but I was in there so often, looking at all the fish, almost daily, and I just asked if I could help, and to my amazement they said yes! It was illegal to have me working there, at my age, and they paid me peanuts, but it was so fun. It was almost 40 years ago, before internet, before cell phones and before legalities were truly enforced. I cleaned tanks, bagged fish for customers, removed dead fish and cleaned constantly, I never handled the register or money though. I remember there was a huge tank of live brine shrimp, that people bought to feed their fish…you don’t see that anymore 🤷♀️

Very Cool Katie, I still say your going to end up owning one very cool Aquarium Store but within a Location that would lap up this type of Interior Set Up or even Exterior ones. Their was an Elderly Couple that used to own the place I think, Not sure?. I once obtained most my Fish from There when I lived with Mum and Dad as well as Pet City Mt Gravatt, The place Aquarama at Stafford wasn't around then. I'm 38 so I used to love visiting the Aquarium to pick up some Fish until I went into the Air Force, I flew the Final Dump and Burn F-111 Display at River Fire in 2010 which i think was on KZbin. I spent 18 Years with the RAAF and now fly for Qantas as a Captain on all Their types of Aircraft but mainly Overseas and Long Range Domestic. I like Studying and went to Mt. Maria ( Mitchelton) Catholic College. I now Hold BSC' s in Engineering ( Multiple) Disciplines, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Aeronautical, PhD ins Maths, Physics and Chemistry. When I Got married to my High School Sweetheart we lived in many places because of the RAAF and now have Settled in Gatton on top of a Hill, Really Cool Place. I still see now and then Brother Lawrence, The Guy that took us out looking for Snakes etc and catching them for milking by the CSIRO, Crazy but a Cool Guy. I think it's important to maintain a good relationship with those you knew in the past irrespective of who they are, Brother Lawrence talked myself into going trapping some Snakes in the Lamington Park walk trails in a few weeks buy I reckon I will take my Fish Nets with me to see what's in there. We carry RFDS Snake bite kits with Antivenin in them. Stay Cool Kaity, Hope that Storm didn't harm your Car. Take Care.... Sincerely John.

Cool video! Definitely something a bit different, but was really fun to watch 😀 Looks like you really enjoyed your day working at the aquarium store, what did you enjoy most about it? I've done work placements at aquarium stores and fish farms, can confirm there's so much cleaning involved, like the time I single handedly deep cleaned about 50 aquariums over a couple of days, and had to essentially play a game of tetris managing all the stock in them 😂 I have thought about setting up an aquascape specialised store from time to time, think that might work as a business if i can work out if there would be enough customers to keep it going! Would you ever consider setting up an aquatics shop? Artemia is fun, learnt how to culture those at uni. Also learnt how to do fish anaesthesia too but we used MS-222 for that which worked really well! The blennies were cool too, look really similar to the ones we get in the UK! Never knew tangs liked sushi seaweed too!
@Kaityscichlids2 ай бұрын
Omg 50 tanks!! I can't even imagine, one was hard enough for me 😅 I think I enjoyed going out and getting coffee the most LOL. But honestly probably the fish unboxing 🐟 I loved working there but I don't know if I could manage a whole store!
@the88tench32 ай бұрын
@Kaityscichlids That was a big job mind sorting all those aquariums out! I think if I ever had anywhere that had that many aquariums I'd definitely want one of those automated water change setups like that store in Canada you visited! Saying that, I might need that for my own aquariums as I had a good go at flooding my living room doing a water change the other week 😬 RAS systems are a lot easier to manage in a commercial environment, as you just turn the sump to lower the water level! That's fair, coffee is always a good idea haha 😂 Definitely look into doing some more videos there though, would be cool to see how that big tank you were setting up progresses!

The plastic fumes… you could buy transparent root control pots for orchids which are similar size and would work just as well as these pods (if not better). And it’d be cheaper than paying an employee to make them.
