It starts out rough, but once you get to the tournament arc you're introduced to so many characters with so many different fighting styles, it's a long, 32-fighter elimination tournament with absolutely excellent, well-drawn, well-choreographed martial arts fighting. It's the peak of the genre.

For people who liked this, I also highly recommend Majo Taisen. A deathmatch tourney manga about historical women with magical girl-style powers. Also really good for your punch girl needs :P Really happy Syd shines a light on this manga. I haven’t been a Kengan fan but I wanted a good women fighting manga for years, and was not disappointed.

Forgot how I found it, but I eat it up like hotcakes. It is SO good. Knowing the creator's track record, this one most likely also have taken a good care in terms of the realism of moves they do. IIRC Sandrovich and the editor for Kengan Ashura have years of martial art experience (MMA and full-contact karate, respectively), and for Kengan they actually demonstrated how each move is supposed to be to the artist. They'll even make corrections from the rough draft if they thing "this body movement won't generate enough power" so they really get it down to the T.

I read the manga since chapter 1 on Comikey and it is really nice for Martial Arts lovers. I already loved How Heavy are the Dumbbells you lift? but this is truly bringing this and Kengan Ashura together. Sydney is doing god's work here. It's just a great MMA manga with cute and also brutal art. It is still in its starting stages though, but so far it looks promising for like fans of Baki or Kengan.
