Funny this video just came out. Because, recently, I came across a Web Manga called “Netorare Manga no Kuzu Otoko ni Tensei Shita Hazu ga Heroine ga Yottekuru Ken”. Which I like to call “Reincarnated as NTR Scumbag”. The story is about a guy who bought a NTR manga (believing it was a basic romance novel) and note that he despised the NTR Villain. But, the next morning, he gets reincarnated as, surprise, the NTR villain. Throughout the story, he’s trying to avoid any interaction with the FMC in order for her to end up with the MC and have a happy ending. But, much to his efforts, she always end up interacting with him. Even to the point of her falling for the Protagonist instead of the MC. As I post this comment, the manga hasn’t been finished yet, but it is a interesting concept.

ive been reading a chinese web light novel that has a kinda similar premise. MC is struck by a meteorite that contains a game trainer AI(like cheating in games/game cheats) and the AI though posting daily missions and missions force the MC to be a NTR scumbag(against his will), giving him more and more OP abilities(like super strength, super endurance). After completing the main quest, for the reward, he chooses to wipe everybody's memory about his NTR ways(you guessed it, one of his former lovers keeps a diary and found out about this). And the novel is still going btw, really interesting read seeing how the MC tries to navigate this post NTR world after ruining so many relationships with so many people

They also are about black guys x Asian women 90% of the time. So if you like your ntr with some racially motivated flavor, ratatat has you covered. I will warn people tho that ratatat leans into the racial aspect narratively too. It's not hardcore raceplay, but you'll see lines that make you go "okay yeah thats kinda racist". If you're into that, cheers, if not then be warned. Oh and he also leans into the pov of a younger male character getting cheated on or cucked. In my opinion, only Seiso Kanojo Ochiru is the only one in the list that is legit NTR while the My Hero Harem by ratatatat74 is kind of an NTR. I always thought NTR was cheating with consent but the partner liked(or thought they would like) to see the other enjoy themselves with someone else. While cheating is just that, non-consensually sharing a partner without the other's knowledge. My best guess is NTR got misunderstood either by multiple creators who didn't want to do any research about it at all but knew it was popular, or people who know the difference but don't find those differences meaningful enough to define cheating and NTR separately.

that's not at all correct. "torare" means "to take", the idea of NTR is that someone is being "taken away". So the MC has a partner who is being taken away and betrays the MC. This generally includes the original relationship breaking in some way. Consent from the MC is not necessary. If the MC does consent to losing their partner to someone, that counts as Netorase, which is a subgenre of NTR. Cheating is just someone in a relationship engaging with someone who is not their partner without consent from the partner. Cheating with consent does not exist (where is the cheat). People consentually engaging with others outside of their relationship would be swinging (or just an open relationship).

After having looked up the definition of NTR a million times, and having watched/read it almost the same amount, i can positively say that the base definition of it is: Cheating, but then the cheating partner slowly (or immediately) switches up because they realize that they are more fulfilled with the person they were cheating with than the person they were cheating on. Sometimes their original relation keeps going, while sometimes they end it. Everything Syd said about the cuckold stuff is something that's commonly associated with the NTR tag, but its not a necessity for it to be NTR. So....... basically, its cheating gone wrong with a few extra steps.
