@sonoki82 lol...they're supported diverse writers, which is something most libraries are in favor of. And I'm sure they got the permission of their boss first. In any case, shut up, this isn't your call to make. It's their job, and their choice. They're trying to spread the stories of trans people.

sonoki82 It is, however, my job to advocate for the interests and reflected needs of my community. While I appreciate your concern for the taxpayer’s dollar, I encourage you to do some further research to broaden your perspective. As a Youth Librarian who works with LGBTQIA+ Youth on a daily basis, I can assure you that this title (printed by a reputable publisher) is material that several of the young adults I work with would be interested in reading. Jackson’s own voice, relaying his experiences through transition, is one that, in my professional opinion, will be of interest and likely relatable to the youth in my community. I encourage you to read over our publicly available “Collection Development Policy” which can easily be found through a quick Google search. It is more thorough on the details of intellectual freedom and democratic rights of the public library user than I have time to personally explain in a KZbin comments section. Take care!

Another reason I love that this book comes out in late September: September 29 will mark 1 year since one of your videos (your collaboration with Ash Hardell about top surgery) literally changed my life. As someone with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome, I assumed I could not transition to male at all, till I learned it was possible to have top surgery without T. That led to my accepting that I could transition, which led to me learning my AIS was only partial and I can use T. eventually I even learned that I might qualify for phalloplasty, despite a certain surgical mutilation that is routinely performed on AFAB intersex children. So watching that video the day after I turned 46 radically changed the direction of my life for the better.

I’m so exited! I’m really into memoirs and autobiographies lately (especially audiobooks), and I love hearing about your experiences and thoughts about gender. I don’t think it’s weird to write a memoir as a young person- it sounds like you have something to say, so why not? Maybe you could use the book to uplift more marginalised voices, like give a list of further reading etc. Also, ‘Gender Reveal’ is my favourite podcast right now, it’s so thoughtful and fun, and Molly has such a benign presence:)

28 is NOT too old to write a memoir. Traditionally, we think about growing up as happening during the teen years, and this is true on one level, but ppl have NO idea who they are at all as a teenager. It’s really in your 20s that you develop emotionally and become who you really are; a much more interesting and complex, and real coming of age story that needs more attention. Also, we have the same birthday and I dreamt that we met last night. Lol. 0_0 Congrats on writing all the words ✌🏼😆🎉

I would like to know this too. I was also wondering if pre-ordering helps the author more than waiting until I can buy it from my local bookstore? If it doesn't affect you or your book then I'd like to buy it from them but I will totally pre-order if it helps :)

I am not an expert but pre-orders drive sales, they tell bookstores how much demand there is for the book and that dictates how many copies they'll stock, so it really is helpful to the author preorder the book!
