Is there a way to get more engagement out this hub and also make it louder?
@ChrisMurrayEWC Жыл бұрын
There isn't much you can do for engagement but you can make things a little louder by using a lighter weight oil on the pawls or even slightly bending the pawl springs to have more tension although that would also increase drag a bit.

What oil or grease do you use to have a quieter sound?
@NonLegitNation23 ай бұрын
you just use a heavier grease. You don't want to use oil because it'll be too thin and actually make them louder. The heavier the grease the quieter they will be but at the same time there has to be a balance because too heavy of a grease and it will actually make it more difficult for the pawls to engage.

I got these hubs as well as Stan’s Neo DuraSync on my other bike. Would you say the i9s are better quality than the Stans?
@ChrisMurrayEWC3 жыл бұрын
Definitely! I've had to repair a ton of broken Stan's hubs over the years, especially the Neo's unfortunately. I am excited to see them working with Project 321 now, that may mean big improvements for them in the future.
@GokkunGuru3 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisMurrayEWC My second bike has Stan's Neo Durasync hub. It's the one that's red and probably not the same as the Neo hub you're referring to which I think is black. But yes, I have read that the Neo hubs are not durable. I am lightweight and ride XC only so I think my Neo Durasync hub will last me longer than most.
@ChrisMurrayEWC3 жыл бұрын
@@GokkunGuru really all of the Stan's hubs have been pretty fragile but if you are a lighter rider doing XC that will help a significant amount in letting them last a long time.

All of Stand hubs suck unless its on like a damn canal cruiser lol The lowest of I9s offerings is miles above the best of Stans. Plain and simple
@GokkunGuru3 жыл бұрын
@@bradystoffer1078 That bad eh? I have had my Stans hub for under a year. Gonna see how it holds up. I don’t ride anything hardcore, not sure if that would extend the life of the hubs. They recently partnered with Project 321 to create a new magnetic engagement system called M Pulse. Maybe that’s better for Stans.

Hey there, are you using grease or oil? I had my body replaced (went from Shimano to SRAM Force) and now the sound is extremely quiet. I want my monster noise back!
@ChrisMurrayEWC2 жыл бұрын
You can use either but if you like loud hubs then a lightweight oil will definitely help you out! Our favorite is Dumonde Tech freehub oil. I think I9 also recommends that one along with the Dumonde Tech freehub grease.

How do you feel about Hope Pro 4 hubs?
@romand123 Жыл бұрын
is anyone seeing the broken axle issue with the 1:1s?
@ChrisMurrayEWC10 ай бұрын
Ive seen a few on Hydras but I have not seen any break on the 1/1's yet. The only major 1/1 failure I have seen was a stripped drive ring but that was from a rider who literally gets paid to try and break bike parts for major companies so he is super hard on gear.

How do you prefer spank hex hub or i9 1/1 hub?
@ChrisMurrayEWC3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, both are great hubs. Purely based on performance I think you get more for your money with Spank Hex but I feel the overall quality of materials is nicer on the 1/1. I've never seen a Spank Hex fail beyond needing bearings replaced due to wear though.
