This is probably the best representation of what Mike Mentzer said. What is different is not the training stimulus for everyone. It's their recovery capability that is genetically innate. Everyone's recovery is completely different and you have to base your rest and workouts around that.

how to apply that with 3 days full body split?
@GG-wg1yh

@@jmgonzales7701 Simple. Don't adhere to a Gregorian calendar. 3 days, assuming you're meaning in a 7 day period, can be extended to say 9 days or 12. Train your full body once every two days, or three days. Progression is the key to knowing if you're recovering. Also feeling generally well.

@@jmgonzales7701 yeah or two days later, meaning Thursday. Basically two resting days between workouts. you to need to be training to failure though.

@@jmgonzales7701 You dont. Try 2 I assure you the results will be no worse. But will most probably be better. Because you will be GAURANTEEING decent recovery time. And the hardest fact to get through people's heads is no growth or adaptation can take place until the recovery cycle is complete. And it always will be. That's why Im walking around with a 49 inch chest ans 17 inch arms at 60 years old and 5 feet 8 tall. And most of the natural guys in the gym half my age aren't. They don't realize that yet. Most neverwill..

Some great reminders for myself in here as I am getting older and needing to adapt, not only in volume and frequency but also in exercise selection. The joints just don't tolerate some things like they use to. Great piece!

I discovered that cable machines for upper body are a lot easier on my joints for pushing exercises(chest, shoulders, triceps}.

Yes, this is a very interesting and relevant video. There's a problem with machines, though. Sure, they are just as good as free weights for hypertrophy (maybe better, as you can recover from them easier), but they are no use for real-world strength. I once got up to a very good weight on seated machine shoulder presses, but when I returned to a barbell, I could hardly lift anything. Really strange, but you need some barbell or dumbbell work.

I've trained at Ian's home gym. Awesome set up. Everything you need. I get the listening to your own body, totally. Age, stress and training have an impact. Train your body wisely. NO BRAIN, NO GAIN.
