Nathan Varner agreed. The singles he released before the album solidified him as a legend in my mind. The album was more than I couldve expected. The story telling is on par with Townes, and I never thought I’d be able to say that. Gonna see him again on April 15th at a small venue in Denver, cant wait.

Ian is the right mix of Bob Dylan and John Prine. Everything he does is fantastic

@@carrico504 I couldn't agree more. I've been a music fan all 40 years of my life, and right now is the most interesting time in my life, musically. For me, anyway. There were other times in the past that were probably just as interesting, if you lived in the right city, at the right time, and went to the right bars. And we all got great music out of those scenes, but what most of us got was a watered down version, meant for mass consumption. Imagine what a band like The Doors might have done if they started on youtube with no authority figure telling them no. No Ed Sullivan telling them they can't say "girl we couldn't get much higher". I'm seeing so much music that I know no record company would produc. i'm seeing it in video games too. Business models effect a lot of game design now. The way that they will monetize it effect how the game plays significantly. There's some crowd funded games i've ben playing that are designed more like games in the 90s.
@whiteyfisk9769 Жыл бұрын
@@carrico504 those are all good, but none of them are on the level Ian is. His guitar playing and craftsmanship as a song writer are truly top tier. Its an honest to God travesty that covid shut down his career like it did, he was gaining so much momentum. It really seemed to have taken something out of him too. Some things are too much too swallow

Years have passed since I listened to this for the first time. It hits me every fucking time. Ian Noe is one of a kind.

I come back once a week at least. I hate how Corona slowed down his momentum so much. He started playing with a full band too. Sensitive souls make the best music but so often dont get the recognition they deserve. But please, tell me more about how good Cardi B is....smdh

In a heavy rain standing off an old county road sat a high rolling river so swift there was a hitchhiking stranger quite pale from the cold on a cane trying to thumb down a lift well I pulled up beside him let my window on down to the rain and the bone chilling wind said you look awful worn in this late winter storm which way are you headed my friend? Right up to the spotlight Drinkin' all that coke and gin And I'll be a suit wearing man With gold in my hand If today doesn't do me in Behind a gas station counter moving crates full of things that looked far too heavy for her stood a girl with a frown said let me just set these down and I'll be right with you sir I said no hurry here take all the time that you want she said a little time and you just wait and see oh I'll be without a care when I finally get there I said miss, tell me where might that be Right up to the spotlight Drinkin' all that coke and gin And I'll be a dress wearing girl With the heels and the pearls If today doesn't do me in Well I get a head full this morning cutting out through the fog and no I can't help but wonder what's left from every road that dead ends to those old bitter men passing time on the old courthouse steps and there's a feeling you get not far from despair that sometimes sets in on your mind but if it's all that you've got Ya still set the clock and get up with a reason to climb Right up to the spotlight Drinkin' all that coke and gin And I'll leave these shadows behind For a new peace of mind If today doesn't do me in
