Hard to watch Rude like this. He was clearly coming up on the end...so bloated here reminiscent of an Elvis in his worst moments in 1977. He wanted to make a comeback as an active wrestler so the story goes...if true he simply pushed himself too far in his training. Hard to believe he's only 40 here, hard to believe he only had a couple months left, and hard to believe it's been close to 20 years he's been gone. He was one of my favorites, who was legit tough and so good at being the man you loved to hate. RIP.

There was a comment made on here earlier that Rick rude was running on fumes. I sadly agree because I have a feeling that part of the problem here is that he was denied a return to the ring. If you live and breathe this sport known as professional wrestling, and you were stuck behind the commentators desk, if you feel that your return to the ring won't happen, it would shatter your soul. I see a true ring great with great heartache knowing that he won't be able to return to the ring. Of course, here, he is contributing in some sort of way but it's not the way that he wants. He entertained so, so many fans and he was one of the greatest heels that ever stepped in the ring. Of course there is the possibility that he was also facing health troubles whether it was because of emotional heartache causing his health issues or because of overtraining and other reasons. Perhaps his health issues went beyond his heartache. A salute to one of the greatest entertainers of the Ring.

Never was this part of WCW, but how could anyone not notice something was "off" or wrong with Rick Rude 2 months before his death. Sad to see him like this, but even worse is it seems like no one else did anything to help him. A true legend gone way way too soon. He'd be awesome on shoot interviews, podcasts, and even involved in wrestling someone over the past 19 years since his death.
@jonathanturbide22326 жыл бұрын
That's speculation, as you weren't part of his inner circle at the time. Rude was a very private guy and very proud, if anything bad was happening in his life then chances are he wouldn't talk about it. Best example of it is that his best friend Curt Hennig never saw his death coming and was absolutely devastated by it, so who knows what happened. If I had to bet the house, I'd say guys around Rude worried about him but Rude constantly said he was alright and not to worry. Then Bam, over.

Honky Tonk Man started that rumor about Rick Rude having ED. Many people say that Rick Rude was planning a comeback and wanted to come back to the WWF/WWE. So he was working out and getting in shape. Most likely, Rude was taking some drugs that caused to have heart failure. Rude was found unconscious at his home. His autopsy showed Rude was taking GHB.
