After my board exam, i stayed at home for 2 months before i look for moonlighting job. My dilemma before is how to apply. Anyways when i went into moonlighting i was able to observe what specialty is the best for me. After 4 years of moonlighting i chose PEDIATRICS. Now I’m a general pediatrician for more than 15 years. Choose what fits with your personality and life is not a competition. Choose to be happy and be kind to people. ❤️

Ask ko lang po, i apologize if this sounds intimidating. Hehe. Kamusta naman po ung return of investment nung nag doctor po kayo? Did you able to give back to parents a luxurious life like that? Hehe. Sorry for this question po, i have this second-thought if i will pursue medicine, i really want to be a doctor pero meron ding naghohold back sa dreams ko kasi I also want to give back my parents somehow a lavish life kahit papaano po?

@@miguelgayoma4035. Ok naman po ang ROI😊. I was able to provide for myself and my family. However if you want to become super rich don’t go to Medicine. And besides majority of family ng doctors have a comfortable life kaya po sila nakapagpadoctor ng anak kasi they can afford to send them to medical school. 😊

I think one of the lessons that quarantine really taught us is to take a step back and evaluate the present. I have been watching other vlogs that have the similar predicament wherein they had their futures planned but the pandemic shattered all of that. What is important is that we start to realize the things that do matter that we tend to overlook: family, self, and our health. It is more important to cherish what we have now because the situation hit us hard with the thought of everything can just go without us realizing. Opportunities come and go, and as the saying goes "One door closes, but another one surely opens."

This is so true. I, too, had my own breakdowns during the board review, it gave me anxiety. After passing the boards I didnt know what to do next too. I was hesitant in starting residency right away due to fear of covid but at the same time I was thinking about my longterm goal in life aside from being a doctor. I wanted to finish residency right away so that I could already start a family on my own and live on my own. So now I’m here, just a month into my chosen residency training. God bless our journey.

Thanks for sharing Dra.! Same thing happened to me. I wasn’t able to push through regular post grad internship this 2020 due to the pandemic. At first, I was really down and sad, because It felt like I was being left alone, my batchmates already applied for internship BUT I talked to a friend of mine, SHE SAID: WE HAVE OUR OWN TIMELINE AND DON’T BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF. Now, I realized everything, and I am super duper happy with my decision, I am glad with God’s decision in my life, I got to spend MORE time with my family. 💓

I am a March-Sept 2020 PLE Passer and I can relate to this. ❤ I was also planning to go straight to residency but Covid happened. Even our exam was postponed for 6 months. I am now a moonlighter and I realized that life is easier when you take it slow. I will go to residency someday but for now, I'll enjoy my moonlighting experience. Thank you for sharing your story. 😊
@ArtsyMed3 жыл бұрын
I think we just have a lot of things to consider before going into residency. For me personally I went straight since my subspecialty would take me at least 6 yrs of training, and looking back, I never regretted I did not take the time off. You can have hurdles pa kasi in middle of training like for me getting sick, so nadelay pa ako ng konti. But I think if your chosen subspecialty is short like, 3-4 urs of training, a year off would not hurt that much. In your case kc it’s kind of different since it’s pandemic, so you have a lot more to consider. There are other hospitals who accept applicants midyear, minsan kasi some just need a few months to self-reflect. Anyways, it’s still your life and you still make decisions for yourself 😊. Wala naman masamang mangyayari if you chose a different path from others as long as you don’t go into illegal things/business 😁.

Doc ok lang po ba kung i-ddiscuss nyo po kung pano maging cardiothoracic surgeon dito po sa Philippines
@k.c.a.sanchez67113 жыл бұрын
well, not a doctor, but i think i know how to answer this. after med school, you’ll enter internship year then after that the PLE. Once you’ve passed, you can now apply to different residency programs of different hospitals. You can look up online the accredited-surgery residencies in the Philippines. You need to take at least 5 years of General Surgery, then afterward a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery. One hospital I can give is UP-PgH, they have General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery. They also have a straight program where your GS is only three years and your fellowship is another three years (shortens the time by I think two or three years).
