It's so sad what Garry says as he's dying. Even though he's collapsing, protecting Ib is still his priority. "I'm...uh...I'm sorry, I don't really know what to say... I don't want to lie to you... But I...don't want to tell the truth either..." So he just says nothing. He knows he's done for and he's probably scared, but instead of admitting it and letting Ib be there for him in his final moments, he tries to be strong for her to his last breath. Somehow that one line is just so sad and upsetting to me.

It makes me want to cry every time I hear Ib say he's sleeping. It feels like she knows, but can't accept it. I feel bad for her and Garry. I kind of wished that maybe in the real ending Ib and Garry would leave together, but all Ib got was a promise that Garry can't keep. They can't meet again if they have no information about eachother other than their names.

This was my first ending when I first played Ib 😭😭 I remembered the moment when I saw those blue petals in the floor I started tearing up, and it kept going until he collapsed. That's when I started to cry and cry.

I was confused at first, but then I realised: Mary is a painting. She should not be able to leave. To do so, she must take the place of another living being. The only options available are Ib and Garry - so either those to leave together, or one must be sacrificed in order to save Mary. That is the only way the balance can be kept. It’s sad, but Mary was never really real anyway, so…

Samantha S. She hasn't so much taken anybodies place. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about that. She doesn't take their place in terms of who they actually are, there just needs to be some form of balance. It's difficult to explain. She does not need to retain their backstory or anything of that sort, she just needs to be in the real world whilst they remain in the fake one.

As tragic as this ending is, it's my favorite because it's the most powerful. I got this ending when I played the game and I cried so much. The name of the ending "forgotten portrait" itself is heartbreaking.

I hv a thoery for the game ib I think that the paintings are actually real people from different times that got trap in the world and was forgotten while the painter is a immortant/time traveler who is able to go back and fore between the past and the present and mary was a recent forgotten person and did not fully transformed into a painting yet so she was looking for a way out through ib

I love Garry, but when Mary asked who I'd leave with if only two people could leave, I said 'Leave with Mary'. I don't know why, but I developed a soft spot for her. And she just wanted to have a normal family and live happily.. So I just let Garry die and left with her, so actually my favourite ending is 'Together Forever'... But I cannot stop crying whenever Garry is left behind.... What the hell is wrong with me.

I tried this option half out of curiosity but mostly half hoping that somehow I could postpone the ending.... I got a big oof to that. :(

This situation kinda could have ended differently with endings. If Mary keeps Ib's rose, then Mary wouldn't want to kill Ib, since she was a best friend of Mary. Garry declining the trade offer would end up in either Mary accidently killing Ib with the rose and Garry getting revenge on Mary and being all by himself. I am interested to see what could happen though, if a rose would be in the different world, and Ib was in reality with Garry. Garry would probably say that Mary wouldn't want to hurt Ib, and Mary would have a memory of Ib, Ib's life link. As Garry sees Mary holding your flower without doing anything to it, he thinks Mary is friends with you and wouldn't hurt you. Just adding more suggestions to endings.

I would go with Garry instead of fucking leaving him there all alone but you still don't get the good ending you get the Ib All Alone ending which I'm not particularly happy about. This is the ending that makes everyone cry, and I hate this one. Poor Garry :( I'd rather get the good ending, while the main character and the 2nd main get out alive, leaving them to a much safer world and making you happy. I HATE THIS "FORGOTTEN PORTRAIT" FUCKING ENDING. Still, nice game ;)
