Great demonstration as always Roger. I bought this model at the back end of last year when it first launched & having previously owned three different Lift-Away models, this one is by far the best - I love the fragrance of the anti-odour cartridge. The only drawback is that I find it rather top-heavy as you also mentioned in your review.

Just bought the stratos online. I saw it on the tv. so far so good. Would like to thank you for the demo. Wasn`t sure how to use the accessories. Lots of pros but 1 con is wish the hose was a little longer. I have the shark carpet cleaner, looks kinda like the vacum. That machine is why I bought the vacum. Thank you. Love the socks.

How well-sealed is this machine against dust being exhausted out of the vents ? I love mine but it does smell when using it.
@max_dottie Жыл бұрын
Sharks are sealed vacuums meaning dust won’t exit the vacuum, but with any bagless machine they smell dusty because of the filters. Same with bagged having a stinky bag in a vacuum for ages is horrible
@sanjayp2683 Жыл бұрын
The smell is dust build up at the head of the machine.

Roger on further inspection would you recommend this hoover ? I'm going back to corded to get the deep clean on various carpets in my home, I did look at the sebo but I don't like the idea of changing filters and bags so if your happy with the result of this model I'll get it if not could you advise me on another model...thanks
@ibaisaic Жыл бұрын
I would pick a Sebo Felix over this model which would require far less maintenance than a bagless Shark. Changing a bag once every two months (depending on usage) and possibly a new exhaust filter every two years is far less trouble than constant filter washing and maintenance needed for an average bagless vacuum.
@jasonward885 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply my only concern with corded hoovers is the restrictions of wattage power of 900 watts....are they still powerful enough to deep clean on carpets with these restrictions, don't you have to change the outside of the felix as well its like the long cover that goes round the hoover? I do like the cylinder sebo as i can use on stairs if you can recommend a couple of models, i also like miele if you can recommend a couple of models, I could do with a reply off you today mate as I've ordered the shark but I could cancel,....thanks for your help Jason
@ibaisaic Жыл бұрын
Even with the restrictions a good corded vacuum will outperform a cordless considerably. Some cordless cleaners come close, but only when used on boost mode which reduces run time and battery life. The Felix exhaust filter which is the patterned cloth around the hard bag housing does not have to be changed on a regular basis in my experience. My Mum used her Felix for more than five years before I fitted a new filter and the filter under the bag has never been changed because if you use genuine Sebo bags no noticeable dust escapes into the bag compartment. I like the Sebo powerhead cylinders as they are the best of both worlds but can be awkward to use. The felix can be detached from the powerhead to make cleaning stairs with the hose easier and you can get an extension hose that stretches to the top of the stairs. Miele cleaners are decent but the bags are small and fairly expensive. I wouldn’t recommend any of the bagless Miele cleaners and the compact bagless and some of the bagged cylinders are made in China. I can’t tell you what to buy as you may not like the cleaners I like, but I tend to use Sebo machines myself as my day to day vacuums and I grab whatever cordless I have handy for a quick clean. If you have bought the Shark from a retailer that will allow returns, then get it and see if you like it, but keep an eye on the filter under the bin and watch how quickly it gets covered in dust.

There is no way to properly clean the main head without a set of specialised screwdrivers and I don’t think I would attempt it. I just use surface wipes and feed them through the clear part over the brushroll.

You could buy a Sebo Dart for what you pay for a Stratos... and with a Sebo you'd get a German made machine with unparalleled engineering. I have pets and I don't plow through bags the way the advertising says you would
@dglcomputers1498 Жыл бұрын
Yes, why people buy this crap is beyond me. It gets sold to them with flashy adverts when buying something "simpler" from a company that cares about quality is the better option. Maybe more manufacturers need to take the henry quick lead and go big on how much cleaner and easier bags are, and how you don't need to empty your vacuum anywhere near as much. As for the "anti odour" technology, that's nothing new, there has been "anti odour" features available for vacuums for years, either the air fresheners that the likes of Hoover used or charcoal filters.
@darkhallucination Жыл бұрын
@@dglcomputers1498 I know right. I'd like to know why ppl think that bagless is a step forward in vacuum technology. As a kid (here in the USA) I grew up having to empty the old cloth shake-out vacuum bags. Then my mom bought a vac with paper bags and it was great! Now we're back to the old ways. Not to mention, vacuum dust is considered a Class 2 Hazardous Material. Not something g I'd want all over my skin. I'll take my Sebo with bags!
@dglcomputers1498 Жыл бұрын
@@darkhallucination Also I like the fact that here in the UK I can get a quality UK made vacuum for under £150, with excellent parts availability (Numatic claim they can supply parts for every vacuum they've ever made) and cheap fabric bags, though their stick vacuum is made in China for the moment it's still better made than the competition and shocker still uses bags!
