Before 1987, the Hoover serial numbers were likely based on the number of vacuums made for each model. I got a Decade 80 with a serial number around 00053000 while I also have a Convertible (which was made before the Decade 80) with a serial number around 00450000.

It was a good day but the temperature was almost near 100 with scattered rain where I live and those black plastic pieces are to help keep the bag attached to the machine so it doesn't blow out too much

Hi Roger... with self propelled Hoovers, you want to always tip them forward to make adjustments to the height, I promise it's a lot easier on you and the machine to do it that way! Thanks for such quality videos, keep up the great work!

I love and have owned the Concept I, PowerDrive and Wind Tunnel...and still use the I, PowerDrive and Wind Tunnel self propelled to this day. Parts are becoming VERY scarce.

That's interesting. I've only ever seen the burgundy colour but it's obvious they are the same machine. I enjoyed your 4th July videos, Roger - I love the colour of the portable - one of my favourite hoover cylinders/canisters that I don't own!

If you ever want to swap I have a hoover windtunnel self propelled twin chamber here in the uk. I got it from new direct from hoover USA. It’s had about 3 hours use. Lol if you fancy swapping a concept for it let me know. Lmao I know it’s a long shot but worth an ask 🤣🤣

I love Concepts, I just got another one day before yesterday and it’s amazing. I have two cats plus my sister’s cat and it just devours the hair with no problem. Also those plastic strips I believe hold the bag to the main body housing.

Love these concepts especially the concept twos with electronic controls. They are really cool vacuums and they are great at cleaning performance. I really want to have one so bad! Oh and also Happy 4th of July Roger! :D

Excellent find! Roger, keep in the back of your mind. Hoovers made in the U.S. that were made before 1987 can not be dated by the serial number. If it was made after 1987, the date would have been in the first 4 digits. The first two being the month and the last two being the year. So this being from around 1983 1984, that is not the case here.

My graet grandma had a Hoover Concept two vacuum and I may get it some day if it hadn't been thrown out. I don't know if the vacuum works it hasn't been used for many years.

Hello I got one of these yesterday for free!! My next door neighbor passed and it was hers. Here family had it on the curb. I thought it surely wouldn't work but it all does. Your video was helpful. Do you know where I can get more air freshener tablets or how much they originally sold for.

Greetings Roger! I have this exact model in my collection also! Those black plastic strips that you found in the bottom of the bag compartment are used to keep the outer cloth bag attached to the main body of the cleaner; there are mounting spots located on either side of the upper part of the fill tube, and they just snap into place. I have the servicing schematics for this machine if you'd like to have a copy. Let me know and I will send them to you. Great video!

Thanks. I probably have those schematics as I downloaded some from Vacuumland a while ago. Fortunately this one doesn't need a great deal doing to it apart from a clean and polish.

I really do love these Such a shame they had such a short here in the uk. Bit like our convertible ( dial a matic in states ) they were just so expensive. People were buying juniors and seniors instead of these as they were half the price.
