I'm so sorry to hear about how much pain you were in. It's happened to me many times before I was diagnosed with IBS and put on the low fodmap diet. I wish I had more info for you, but I do have something that I was turned onto. Hopefully this can help you and your other subscribers- turmeric capsules. Part of the pain from IBS is the inflammation of the lower intestine lining, turmeric is anti inflammatory, it's really helping me. I know this is off topic, but you asked for advice? This is as close as I can get. Luv you!

You are not alone. I know it can be scary and depressing. The pain is so bad sometimes I think this can’t be IBS, for me I can’t lie down it’s so bad. Lasts about two hours, my abdomen feels hard as a rock. Afterwards I come to this channel where I know people will understand. Thanks for being here!

Trapped gas is probably the most painful aspect of IBS for me. It usually comes at the same time as diarrhea and I arguably feel more relief once I pass the gas out than the diarrhea itself. It just puts a horrendous pressure on your insides than isn't relieved until you use the toilet.

Omg, poor you! I've had three occasions were I was in so much pain that I almost fainted from it! Afterwards, I'd become yellow, my blood pressure dropped and I was sooo cold it took me a week to recover and get out of bed (my doc did some tests and he couldn't find anything). I don't wish pain like that on anyone and I hope it won't happen to you again. As for me, I'm slowly transitioning from a low residue diet to strict fodmap again, and I hope starting from the beginning will do the trick! Best of luck and feel better !

So sorry you have been in so much pain and discomfort. You are so helpful and I feel you have helped me soooo much with all your help, advice and recipes, without you I would have really struggled. I was diagnosed last feb with IBS and have had a tough year being told to go gf and low fodmap. I had no idea were to start with cooking meals and how to basically get through a day, but finding you was the best thing ever. I suffered last Oct and had to go back to my gp were I had to send a sample off to get checked, it came back I had a paracite!! After 3 lots of antibiotic which made me feel so ill I finally last Monday got results back to say I was now clear. Advised to try re introduce small amounts of gluten back into my diet and no longer do lfm as its not good to be on it for a long time?? Since Tuesday I've been feeling lethargic and very constipated🙄 I'm now back were I started and my stomach isn't feeling good. Not sure were I go from here, my advice from my doctors was try the plant based diet, but I'm very scared as it has lots of grains and vegetables and fruit that I know will probably aggravate my stomach. I really hope you don't suffer again with the awful pain you had a few days ago but I would go get checked out becky if it flares up again. Thankyou for letting us all chat and share on here, I feel that reading other peoples messages will helps us all. ❤👍❤

OMG, yes, this was my situation about 2.5 - 3 weeks ago. I find that generally what helps me is a warm bath, really a warm soak. It relaxes my body, including my gut. Unfortunately, I now live with just a shower, which isn't as effective. Moving does help, because it forces the gas to move and make it's way out as well. Still, I prefer a warm soaking bath. I hope you no longer experience that kind of pain. It's horrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I had terrible issues with being unable to go to the toilet over Christmas period, and was vomiting up bile acid pretty frequently throughout the day with the odd occasion of fecal matter :/ - and I was extremely bloated and after cold sweats and fever like symptoms. No one at my GP took me seriously, until I brought in a mental health advocate and then they were telling me to go to A&E and upon getting an x-ray, and then later an MRI scan they confirmed to me that my sigmoid colon had perforated and that if I had left it any longer I would of gone into sepsis as my infection/inflammatory markers on my blood tests were very high. I'm still recovering to this day, and its been awful pains going to the toilet so I totally can emphasise with you on that front.

I’m sure sugar is one of my issues but for love nor money I just can not give it up, it’s such a drug for me! I go to bed often bloated and uncomfortable then wake up at 2am with awful painful grisly grumbly gurgle guts, can take a hour or so to get back to sleep. I feel your pain it’s awful. I like the posts when you explain about your symptoms as I can relate, it does help us sufferers feel less alone. I agree what you say about doctors, the gastroenterologist told me it’s ‘just’ IBS and he can’t help me and my gp just keeps trying to get me to take antidepressants - grrrr!

I havent been diagnosed, but i have always had the odd tummy pain (more in my gut) when ive eaten certain foods, sometimes its almost an instant thing. Food in the mouth, straight to the loo! Ivw always been gassy. But this week.. i got realy bloated in my upper abdomen, under my ribs and it HURT, it felt like someone had punched and winded me. I then had cramps on and off going down the sides. It was sore to touch (which then was all bubbly but nothing happened in terms of gas) and this lasted for a whole night and day and it HURT. Even going the loo didnt help! I feel i do have ibs, because that flare went for a few hours so i tried to eat, and ate some pizza. It then came back again.. im glad i came across your account. I

Thanks for the update. I often feel so so alone in this, but your updates help me feel less so! That pain sounds so scary, it would have panicked me as well, I'm glad you're doing better. Since Christmas I have just been suffering so much with constipation and pain. Hardly changed my diet but my my habits did and I have no idea why. Everything got worse. With that has come new pain - sharper pains, sometimes hot feeling pains. Pain in my bum. Urgh. I've started to feel more normal again the last few days. I thought I was fine today, was doing well.... Then by home time I started to feel uncomfortable again and I have no idea why!

Two specific episodes which told me I probably have some IBS issues. The first was when I was on the phone a couple of months ago, and I suddenly got shooting pain and cramps going right into my chest to the point I thought I was having a genuine heart attack. Second was a few weeks ago where someone came up to me at work and asked if I was pregnant! I'm having a doctor's appointment soon as my bowel movements over the past six months or so have gotten quite imbalanced and I have occasions where I get really bad stomach cramp, especially when I'm sat down drinking alcohol...that seems to be a trigger. Thanks for all your videos!

I'm in tears right now dealing with a terrible C flare. Have to go into "survival mode" (cut almost all eating back for a few days if I don't eat basically less fuel for the fire). The worst it ever got was a few years ago when I presented to the emergency room with an impacted bowel and overflow D at the same time (incontinence). I needed immediate IV fluids and manual intervention. It was so severe that it has left me with a permanent, debilitating anxiety about the possibility of a repeat (unfortunately, I was advised by the ER that after developing one impaction, I'll always be prone to developing another.) . Some people without gut problems may say, "it's a little constipation, no big deal everyone has to deal with it at some point." NO! This is so much more debilitating than I can ever describe, both mentally and physically. Thank you so much Becky, for making these videos and for encouraging us to share our stories and support each other. You've no idea what a comfort it is to myself and so many others! I'm going to pull myself together and fight!! :) To anyone reading this you matter and your experiences are valid. You are not alone! This community is so supportive and amazing!

Hi Becky, I really feel for you! I have been living with Crohn’s disease for about 35 years and also for the last year or so struggling with SIBO. I have discovered that I have also been dealing with ileocecal valve dysfunction. Some of your videos have described pain and symptoms which remind me of the times when my ileocecal valve is stuck shut. Chronic constipation is a major symptom. More recently I have discovered a powerful bubble busting formula. In a 4 ounce dropper bottle I feel almost to the top with MCT oil and add about 60 drops of pure peppermint essential oil. After eating as soon as I feel any bubbles starting to form in my gut I take approximately 1 to 1 1/2 mills of the oil. Everything starts to settle down. After a while if I feel the bubble starting to build up again I’ll take another one to 1 1/2 mills and I will do this continuously all the way up until bedtime and generally have found that I can sleep soundly through the night which had been an extremely rare event over the preceding months. Please look up ileocecal valve dysfunction and you will find that potentially doing some manual massage of your valve may help the gas to move through your system more quickly. But also definitely look into making your own peppermint oil formula which is much stronger than anything that you can buy in a pill form.

Out of curiosity have you ever tried Heather’s peppermint oil capsules? I have been doing research and looks like their products are highly effective. Their capsules contain peppermint, fennel, ginger and have enteric coating lets capsules pass through the stomach intact and dissolve in the intestines.

I wish that this vídeo was in spanish! I mean, I have one year with IBS, it's very hard to me cos my fathers don't believe me when I said them that I feel really bad, I spend eight monts without medical antention, I don't go to my schooll like the way it's mean to be because I feel ashamed, I have no control of my intestine, when I am in public I don't control my gas, and the school boys make me feel bad about their teasing. I'm so tired, the diet it's so hard, haaaa.😢 I didn't understand much about the video, but because of your body expression, it hurts under my ribs too, and the IBS makes my hair fall out. I hate my life, literal.

I also left school and it was really hard at first but now I feel like I’m getting better. I hardly have pain and I try to fart as much as I can lol. I tried many different diets. And I may have found an eating patten that works for me. But most importantly I began to treat anxiety because that was triggering my digestion problems. You life will get better!

Have you tried VSL#3? It's an extremely high count probiotic that I learned about from Dr Rhonda Patrick. She's a very knowledgeable woman who has been through IBS so may be worth checking her out. Luckily, I only have mild IBS and my triggers were gluten, sugar and dairy. You may also like to try some yoga and/or meditation to reduce stress. Hope you feel better soon 🙏🏼

I can definitely relate! I had these same pains last week. I haven’t figured out what all my food triggers are and it’s been a year. A couple days ago I had a cheat day and had breaded chicken and it just sat in my stomach. It didn’t feel as though my dinner break down. And I’ve had the meal once before with no issue. Usually, when I experience this I stop eating meats until my stomach gets better. I drink more water, a little tea to try and make things work more. And for meal I’ll have cereal (with almond milk) or soup. I don’t know if this will help anyone else. I’m still learning myself.

I have IBS and I had that like 3-5 time in the morning. Sadly the best solution is to crawl on the floor, through tears and start twisting and turning and doing yoga digestion exercises VERY slowly thought tears. And over some time gases will start moving and you will feel slow realise of that cramp in the stomach. But this feels like the opposite what you want to do when you have that paint, but just trust me.

I’ve had IBS for over 10 years now, but slowly over the past few years I’ve been getting more upper pains… burning, dull, sharp, intense… always different. Had a mega flare up in 2020 that lasted for months… the worse was waking at 1am with toe curling pain behind my ribs like you describe here. I spoke with my docs several times, and they said it was acid and gave me meds for that. I did some digging online and “functional dyspepsia” is more common in those with IBS. Went down the rabbit hole and IBS and indigestion are both part of the same disorder, according to many medical papers based on surveys. Indigestion is basically IBS in the stomach… over sensitive nerves higher up. The vagus nerve is also worth reading up on, as it connects the brain to the bowels, via the stomach. It was quite an eye opener and joined up a lot of dots for me. Thought I’d share in the hope it offers others the epiphany it gave me.

I have experienced excess gas pains that send me into tears. So I get it! On the other hand is to pay attention the pain you are getting in your upper belly. Alongside IBS, I needed to get my gallbladder removed because it was full of gallstones. And passing a gallstone is the worst pain I have ever had. So keep an eye out on your gallbladder. I have been to the ER for IBS-C and gallbladder attacks.

Husband gets burning in stomach right below sternum, bloat in belly with such intense pain he cannot sit still - makes himself vomit until he feels better which sometimes takes several vomits and several hours, his stomach gurgles and rumbles constantly. Constant lower, left abdominal pain. Recently diagnosed with suspected IBS, colonoscopy done but still has endoscopy appointment to see if they find anything else. Gastro dr gave this suggestion for treatment as soon as endoscopy is finished (dr likes trying natural versus pharmaceutical since they have potential of side effects): Start on Mediterranean diet. No dairy. No caffeine. Start on Align probiotic. Start taking IBGard. Start taking papaya enzyme extract and ginger root caps. I'd love to hear the exact areas the pain is, to compare notes. Sometimes the pain comes on for no reason at all, hours after eating. Broccoli is definitely the WORST as is cauliflower. Instant flare up/excruciating bloat.

(They are apparently UK's no1 for gut health) Since been working with a practitioner to resolve my hydrogen sibo issue and deal with the imbalance of bacteria in my gut (apparently have very low good bacteria). They also think I have a liver and gall bladder issues so have given me supplements to support it. currently taking all natural anti-microbial stuff to kill off bad bacteria. Only week 3 not sure if its completely working to be honest but i have had less loose stool. 3 more weeks of this stuff and i have another appointment in march to see how its going. Have you stumbled on Candida Crusher on youtube? he has interesting stuff to say about the low fodmap diet and ibs issues.

What happened to you that night happens to me at least once a week, mines not usually relieved by passing gas thou. I usually end up throwing up or sometimes I throw up and have a bm, which helps but barely enough to notice, I usually just cry until it stops. My dr said the vomiting is because my body doesn’t have enough room for everything inside and since I’m constipated it can’t come out my bum so the only other way to get things out and is too vomit. So you are right, urinating made a lil excess room that your stomachs needed. My dr calls what happened to you an “attack” which is like our normal stomachaches times 100. I’ve yet to find anything that helps. I hope this doesn’t happen to you again because I know what these attacks are like and they make normal day to day ibs symptoms seem like nothing. I actually gad an attack today, it just cleared up about an hour ago. But that attack is the reason I found your vids so that’s cool. I’ve really enjoyed your vids and especially the community in the comment section. I’ve felt so alone and I’ve been treated like a liar/faker, so it’s so nice to find other people going through it, it makes me feel validated

The way you described this pain! And then went on to explain it was trapped wind. That was something I experienced about a year ago for the first time, at least to that extreme. I was scared and was about to wake my boyfriend, about an hour after waking, but just before I did it started easing, I farted a bit. Eventually I could get off the living room floor and crawl to bed. In the morning I farted a LOT. I also felt the same way about the pain of childbirth. (I also have not have a child). People really dont know the extremes and the things we deal with. It was so petrifying. I felt so silly that it was just gas. But noone else I know understood. Also, you may well know but just in case anyone reading might benefit. When I am gassy/trapped wind in the bowels sometimes (if I can manage the position). I lay on my back or perch back on a chair and kick my feet like I am cycling on a bike. Each leg circling big circles. Its better on the floor but some arent able.

I groan under my IBS but I've not (yet) had anything such as you describe. I do have stomach cramps quite often and the best thing for me is to then lie still ina dark room with a hot water bottel pressed to my sides not to my stomach but to the kidney area, it will go withing 30 minutes or so, but I havent had something as bad as you describe. So far as my pains are concerned, I notice they often come on after Ive done a lot of talking, delivering a talk typically, so breathing is obviously a factor. People: try not to swallow air and to speak too excitedly. Of course urination and defecation will help because these pains are as you say gas being trapped and pushing your guts to the point you think they will burst. Something I do is every morning and night lie on my back with my legs raised vertically. Thats supposed to be good againast hermarhoids (!) but sometimes I break wind doing that so might be an idea. Oh and another thing I notice is pain coming on from sitting in seats typically aeroplane or train seats which are too narrow. If I am on a train for a long journey, It is a good idea for me to stand for a good part of the journey. Flying is very stressful and environmentally catastrophic and I stopped flying in 2013 and will never fly again but if you do fly I strongly advise standing up and going to the toilet quite frequently even if not necessary just to prevent being squeezed in a narrow seat for hours on end. I use a heating pad on my belly pains. I wake up with nauseous and have diarrhea usually. My belly will hurt first. I just eat chicken, wild caught salmon. My days vary as well with eating. I've been hospital as well but I was so dizzy and nauseous too. I'm being tested for meniere's disease too.

I hope you do feel better longer. I came to this video to look for help myself I am having a bad day right now. I'm at work but if I was home I would get my heating pad on my stomach. I tend to get really bad when I get my body cold. I always have to wear socks. meat makes my stomach hurt and I can't eat dairy. I have had 4 children natural births, and the contraction pains are what I do feel sometimes when I get real bad. a hot flash runs over me like I'm going to pass out. thanks for sharing your videos.

Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much for this. Ive been on fodmap for about a year, but I've been horribly noncompliant since Christmas! So much sugar. And this week oh my gosh the pain is awful. I keep eating things I shouldn't thinking well it just pain it'll go away. But weeks of that have built up and I'm definitely struggling today. Thanks for sharing so feel less crazy or worried. Nice to not be alone. 😊

I had REALLY BAD PERIODS and was a walking period up to menopause and I am so glad I don't have them anymore as I had to have injections hormones, every few weeks to control my non stop periods. Now, I have IBS!!!! The pain is very bad but at least I have mebevarine to stop the stomach cramping. Also, amitriptyline at night. Have you had these prescribed, too? I have to take laxatives every day. Pain- I try to be patient and boy, it is absolutely exhausting but it is an exercise in the Holy Virtue of patience. I'm on 7 prescribed medicines daily! I have Clinical Depression which is probably the very worst disease that exist because it is basically entering the grave or feels like I am experiencing dying all the time. Very very dark. Very very painful. Depression is the very worst experience of all. Anything but Clinical Depression.

I would agree that IBS pains are the worst, having given birth. Just recently I had a hemorroidectomy (the scalpel type, leaving an open wound). Now, that was PAINFUL. But, it was temporary and I still would not even put that in the same category as the IBS pains I used to suffer before being on the right combination of medication and diet. I'm sorry you have had this, I had a few episodes over Christmas, even though I barely had anything different. The medication sorted them out fairly swiftly though.

I can relate to your extreme pain experience...I have similar instances and it is terrifying...my constricting symptoms usually start high up and progress up into my ears...my whole body locks up..I guess it's indigestion overload...it's crucifying and very frightening.... I have in recent weeks now moved into full blown IBS with diarrhoea.. instantaneous on occasion.... now anxious about leaving the house... I have autoimmune disease with fibromyalgia and for the past ten years have modified/restricted my diet drastically..now what? Stress, anxiety, wrong foods, etc ..what foods do you find help you get through most days without too much associated pain/bloating? I welcome your honesty...it helps.. blessings...

I've had maybe 3 or 4 such episodes that I almost passed out, one being in the middle of a mall, where I barely made it top of escalator and walked half bent over to the washroom and just sat there for about 10 min after which it got better. Then 2 or 3 more at home but they always happen almost immediately after I eat something, and one time it happened when I woke up in the morning and that threw me for a loop. The mall episode was minutes after eating one of those frozen yogurts, then at home the last time I remember was after I ate a good 3 scoops of Kit Kat ice cream, about 30 min later I was bent over in gas pain, where you can't really straighten up, I got off my bed, and crawled to my bathroom which is 4 ft away..I sat on the toilet rubbing my belly and then started to feel cold, clummy,my heart was racing, my eyes started to go blurry and I felt like I was gonna pass out...I was almost certain of it..after passing a bit of poo, it got better and I crawled out lay down on the floor in front of the fan and slowly relaxed and was able to go back to bed. This happened maybe 6 months apart, 2 or 3 times after eating regular dairy. Since then I don't eat ice cream or drink regular milk, I am ok with consuming hard cheeses, yogurt (sometimes it bloats me a little) or even Starbucks coffee like PSL that I know has dairy but ice cream seems to kill me. And that kinda pain I wouldn't wish on anyone, I have 2 kids and it's very close, both times I almost passed out so yeah... oH and I find that if I press on any parts of my tummy at that time the pain gets worse, if I bend over it's worse, it's like I get stuck and can't straigthen up again. I usually just rub it gently in circular motion , put heat pad on and sip on mint tea and jus try and pass some wind.Going in a hot bath also helps right away anytime I get uncomfortable pain.

I used to get crippling stomach pains with trapped wind after eating in my late teens, then when I was about 20y/o I had a colonoscopy and I found out it was Ulcerative Colitis, I’ve always had it with very little remission, but it started out like how yours sounds, literally I’d be rolling on the floor in agony and IBS pills or indigestion meds never helped me enough. You should definitely goto your GP and ask to see a gastroenterologist consultant. I know it’ll be hard though especially with this covid virus about! X

Yup its a gas pocket. I would love to make a recommendation that I have never seen anywhere on any IBS You Tube Video. Drum roll...... Invest in a mini trampoline! It's fantastic on so many levels and it's number one to get rid of gas and to get things moving. It's incredibly great for lymphatic drainage. Increases bone density and is low impact for anyone with joint trouble.

I felt a pain so similar to this after my colonoscopy. The gas they pumped me full of made my stomach so incredibly painful I was crying and doubled over after I came out of the procedure. I couldn't stand up or walk because of the pain. I ended up going straight to bed and I couldn't 'pass' the gas, it wasn't coming out in the way I needed it to it was like it was trapped. I could feel my intestines grumbling and then popping then slowly over the course of the night it slowly broke down and dissipated! I can imagine how uncomfortable you were feeling! I have post infections IBS from a holiday to Bali and stomach probs are the pits!

For the last three years my stomach has gotten worse. I always feel bloated, and experience discomfort, especially when i’m anxious. My main problem is at school, where it attacks. When it’s silent in class, it just tends and triggers to make noises. My chest becomes heavy and its like the air is pushing through a wrong way. The pain and soreness shifts in every side of my tummy. At night, morning. I believe i get anxiety attacks and muscle soreness. I don’t know what to do anymore

You said recently diagnosed Olivia? Have they warned you about hidden gluten? They don't always warn you. Even simple spices in your spice rack have gluten and because of the law, it's not always listed. It should be illegal since celiac can kill, but it isn't. Sometimes doing your own research to protect your health works better because doctors don't know everything and have multiple patients to care for, you only have one person to put your research into. Good luck

tori Ohno since I just got diagnosed with the disease I haven’t been to my dietician yet. (In my country I just get referred directly to a dietician and not a doctor to talk about eating habits) but thank u! Will be looking into spices and hidden gluten. What do you think about glucose sirup? A lot of people have said it’s just sugar and others say you should totally avoid it as a celiac.

Some of the worst pain I felt was from a 3cm gallstone. I had my gallbladder removed. If it is a gallstone, try to get the medicine. Removing it was a bad decision. My digestive issues started after that. Hopefully it was just gas or something minor for you.

I had the worst stomach pains 3 days ago too, just as I came home from work and I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital! The chronic pain lasted 3.5 hours and I was out of it for 2 whole days and could barely eat anything that didn't flare it up. I drank loads of water. One of my biggest issues is my portions. I have a habit of starving myself for most of the day. I only really eat, 6-7hrs a day and fast the rest of the day. I find I have a lot less horrible days that way. But then the downside to that is after about 2 or 3 days of doing that, I get REALLY hungry! I end up eating a big meal on my off days and feeling sick afterwards; unless I’ve taken a ton of Imodium the night before and first thing next morning. My cycle week I tend to eat a lot more sugary things because I crave it so bad, I’m like a human garbage disposal. Meh! Well... it’s good to know atleast I’m not alone with struggling with IBS.

It is very confusing. I struggle every day because I don't know what to eat. Just when I think I have found a few things I can eat they don't work. Same thing too with the food haven’t changed anything argh maybe we should just eat unflavoured fish and brown rice. IBS intense bull shit. I have IBS, but I dunno if what you're saying sounds like gallbladder. My husband had his out in the end. I'd watch your fat intake for a bit, see if it keeps it at bay. I've had terrible pains, so much so I had to ring 999, I was on the floor and couldn't move, ended up on morphine.. I then had every test under the sun. Now I'm on meds, but usually my bad days now consist of ibs-D, with me on the loo feeling feverish, hot and cold sweats, feeling like I'll pass out or throw up.. Not fun. Without my medication I'm sure I'd be a mess again, dagger like pains and I'd probably be on the loo first thing, then every single time I ate, no matter what I ate,
