Been doing straight cold showers for 2 years at least twice a day. No hot at all. Works wonders.

how do you feel after? and how long do you take the cold shower?
@michalremis Жыл бұрын
Same, not a single hot shower/bath in the last 2.5years and I feel wonderful. Only the coldest option the shower has. I don't see myself having a hot shower in the near future. Funny thing is, I can't have a long cold shower because my hands start to numb due to the cold and I'm unable to hold the showerhead hah

The one and only rule with cold baths or showers is *don’t think just do* and go as much as you can
@trainingwithmateo Жыл бұрын
That's a great rule. I have a few more coming. Thanks for watching.

I just started cold plunging a few weeks ago. I have to do it before my workout so that means I do it at 4am. It’s the hardest thing to do when you’re already cold. But I put one foot in front of the other and get it done and I never regret it.

That's great! I do it before my workouts in the morning too.

Being recently retired, not having a set schedule and having the whole day to myself, I’m just fine doing it mid morning after I’ve run a couple errands and before I hit the gym. Ain’t no way I’m getting in an ice bath while it’s still dark outside and as soon as I roll out of bed. I have no issue committing to it later in the day. I also don’t do it everyday. I do it a few times a week and that works for me.

Love that commitment! I get mine in, but still have internal negotiations 😂

I don't know. I have found that they're way easier and more enjoyable to do later in the day, at equal temps and durations. So the point about not giving yourself an excuse doesn't really resonate.

My wife takes her ice baths later in the day too because they are easier and more enjoyable for her. Sounds like you found what works for you. That time of day doesn't work for me. I make a point of doing the ice bath before I workout. That means in the morning. It takes me a good 20-30 minutes to warm up enough to head to the gym. That means first thing in the morning. The cold creates a surge in adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol - I want this surge to happen earlier in the morning rather than later... but that's what works for me. The hormonal response of cold therapy is why I'm not a fan of cold therapy later in the evening or even later in the day, unless I combine it with the sauna (contrast therapy). Thanks for watching. Thanks for the comment.

Is a one minute ice bath still beneficial?
@trainingwithmateoАй бұрын
Possibly. But my experience leads me to think that you really need closer to the 3 minute mark. But do your own experimentation, and if 1 minute works for you - do it! Although, with consistency you may find your tolerance and desire to stay in longer will increase.

exactly, I get into my chest freezer as soon as I wake up, before I brush my teeth, before I take my phone off airplane-mode... before my brain even starts to think about it...
@trainingwithmateoАй бұрын
Nice! The chest freezer version can really get the water cold.

I'm doing 5min at 38 every morning

I have mine set to 38 also. At 3 minutes, my hands start to hurt a bit, and I usually get out before 4 minutes. Any tips for finger pain, did you get accustomed to it?
@pxbroccoli8 ай бұрын
@@gbas76 yes I have the same problem. If it hurts too much I put the hands out a bit. Some days I'm strong and just keep them in but some days I'm not :D

38 is really cold. I did a plunge once in a converted freezer at around 34 if I remember correctly. I had to raise feet out. It was too cold for me.
@maksitooobg2367Күн бұрын
I am never doing this first thing in the morning.. Yes I want to but I once did and my neck hurted for three days because of the cold.. Its better to go out with the dog exercise for 20-30 minutes and then I can stay as long as I want cause I am already warmed up and awake.. Too much shock if you go right after you go up from the bed..
