I clicked on this vid, knowing absolutely NOTHING about ice fishing. (doesn't happen here in Australia) Blown away at everything, the camping set ups, how well you eat, not even thinking twice about sticking your arm into a freezing lake, and THAT FISH! Mad respect guys. New subscriber here.

@Yo ice Yoo ice I'm a semi-retired school teacher in a very rural school in the mountains. We have class outdoors, every day, regardless of the weather. I know lots and lots of young people--family members and students--11 years old and up who hunt, fish, backpack, rock climb, whitewater kayak, and excel in other outdoor activities. I compliment young people who do what Mav does because they're good role models.

Started my son fishing when he was 18 month old took him fishing ever other weekend till he got out of school . Taught my son to fly fish and every kind of fishing you can imagine. We also canoed and fished the mainland river in southwestern Ontario several years when my dad was alive he would take and drop us off at Wingham Ontario and we would start of down the river in our canoe with a tiny 2 man tent food single burner stove and at dusk we would cast plugs hula poppers super fun smallmouth top water fishing .. Couple days later we phone dad he’d pick up and we would take him to Bartliffs bake shop and restaurant in Clinton for a meal lolol.. Last summer my son took me to Lake Erie 4am we went out several miles on Lake Erie in the restored wilker and caught steel head and walleye was great fun . In getting my son involved in fishing and the out door he has a good sense of the environment and conservation and loves the out doors . My son also has passed off his fishing and outdoor skill to many of his friends all of which have been kids and later young men to be proud of !

Best regards from south western Ontario Canada. I would learn to fish great hobby not just catching fish but the whole outdoor experience. I moved to Canada from Britain as a boy loved all the outdoor activities even though were in the between the Great Lakes and high population area of Canada . Would have liked to been further north with little population but jobs not as plentiful in northern Ontario so had to stay in south 120 miles east of Detroit. The Great Lakes have some world class trout and walleye fishing especially Lake Erie . Lake Huron had excellent Chinook salmon fishing but bait fish collapse caused them to be stunted for lack of food . Lake trout like the ones in this video were native to Lake Huron and are now making a big come back so that should be fun once we learn how to find them lol
