JC and Philip head out to the Ghost River Wilderness Region to scout out early-season conditions for the sorcerer. We found good ice quality in the upper pitches and some strong headspace demanding runout pitches at the bottom.
All in all, solid day.

Phil's reaction when JC gets barfies is like hearing about someone's dog dying.

Nice climb! Such a classic. Last did it over 20 years ago. But where was the thin ice? You didn't even hit rock! ;)

Hey, great video, maybe a stupid question, how do u get back the ice screws and other gear from the anchor after rappeling down. Keep being awesome !!!
@ryanKeenN
@ryanKeenN 2 жыл бұрын
For cleaning the anchor at the top.. the last person who rappels takes all the gear from the anchor after securing themselves separate from the anchor. I personally do this once I am on rappel with a prussik and if there is a v-thread ill secure my PA to that as well. Remember to always have redundancy while climbing!

Hey! I gotta ask - do you do anything special with your gopro battery? I've been taking my GoPro MAX out on my last couple trips and the battery absolutely hates the cold. At 0F, it will literally just shut down after the first few seconds of recording. Super annoying!

Welp, I found the secret is to just keep it INSIDE the jacket. Kept it going for a full 40 mins in -23c!!
@canadianboyz5520

This is the question of the year dude and I'm still trying to figure it out. I have 5 batteries that I cycle through, once you pop one in the GoPro you have roughly 45 minutes of battery life regardless if you record or not. The other batteries remain in pocket close to your skin at all times. It's a giant game of trying to figure out when to put a battery in or not while trying to climb some of the hardest ice out there. Honestly it's probably for those reasons there isn't really any other ice climbing channels, it's so damn hard to organize. I envy rock climbing channels in the warmth. 😂

@@canadianboyz5520 Yeah dude I was thinking about that while trying to get my GoPro going a few days ago. Last thing you wanna be doing while preparing to lead/solo/whatever on ice is fiddling with a silly gopro hahah!!

Nice video, insane spot! I'd love to see more screws placements tho! both the satisfying motion of the screw going in and it's reassuring, otherwise you look runout all the way up (which you kinda were on the first pitch tbh) Psyched for the new season!
