Excellent video! Also, thank you for not adding a bunch of music on top. Simple is best, your video is clear and just hearing the birds outside it's much nicer :) This video is quite relaxing!

I just did an ice tie dye tutorial on an apron but I never thought about dying fabric with prints, that’s so cool, all your items look amazing.

I love ice dye projects. It really is a lot of fun and I think less messy than liquid dye is. I can't wait to get started on mine this weekend.

I saw most people put a layer of soda ash over the dye that is on top of the ice for more intense colors

Great tutorial. 1. Some tie dye using rubber bands. Is that necessary on t-shirts? 2. Do you have to do backside if it’s a t-shirt? Thanks.

The dye and soda ash are they dangerous to inhale? Irritate the eyes? I have asthma.
@lindseynobody4865 Жыл бұрын
The soda ash definitely is but I'm not sure if the dye is dangerous or not. Probably best to avoid inhaling it though

heh. step 0: put hair up so you don't accidentally dye it. anyway, what would you recommend to dye silk? it's not plant-based, but it's not synthetic either...
@lindseynobody4865 Жыл бұрын
Yes it definitely works on silk.

Why do you use ice or how do ice cubes help
@lindseynobody4865 Жыл бұрын
The ice causes a different distribution of the water and the dye than using liquid colors and that ultimately makes the two methods look different. Putting the dye under the ice vs over the ice actually creates differences as well. There are some good videos comparing the methods if you search something like ice dye vs liquid dye. Keep in mind that ice dying does require more dye powder than dying with liquid dye does so some kits won't contain enough to do it properly.

Could you please link the dye set you purchased?
@MrKiely4153 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the dye set but I do know she was using Procion MX dye. Rit is another, less expensive, popular brand, but people seem to prefer Procion.
I’m not sure what kind of tie dye powder you’re using but I recently found out that most powders are made with mica and in India and Madagascar they use child slavery to mine it and that’s the world’s majority of mica mining (mica also is in electronics, body paint/glitter, and makeup and other cosmetics)
Do you always use Procion? Do you find it better than rit? If so, why?
@ddubbelde3 жыл бұрын
Yes. These powder dyes are highly concentrated and yield fantastic results 🙂
@lindseynobody4865 Жыл бұрын
Rit isn't as colorfast and really isn't meant for doing this kind of project. Rit dyes are more for when you want to dye something the same color all over.

No, it's not. Especially for the amount of fabric i had stuffed in that box. But, thanks for your comment..?
