Very cool. It's fun hanging out with like minded folk. Hope life is treating you kindly, and all the best for 2025 if I haven't wished you well yet.

Wow! Thanks Matt - for sharing! Where I'm at, we only see snow once every 15 years or so. Landing on a river isn't something you're going to do here without pontoons! As Scott Manley says - Fly Safe!

Well feel free to send some of your warm air up this way, it was -24°C here this morning!

You should load that thing up with gear and do a whole series following all the old voyaguer and trading routes across the country. Like the old "on the road again" series but flying.

I'd need a pretty big "go fund me" so I could quit my job and do that! Hahaha! But it sure would be fun!

I was looking at it today, as I drove along the 105 towards Nackawic, and thought that maybe it was a bit dodgy. Looks like an awful lot of fun!

Ya, I might not have gone if it was today with the warmer weather we just had but after next week, it should be twice as thick! lol

NICE!! I want a test flight in the appolo now! Man i wish there was as much aviation stuff going on on my end of the province than down south, maybe one day! :) Keep them video coming Matt

I see you have a challenger in your hangar. When you going to fly that pretty plane?
@mmatt10 күн бұрын
Probably in the spring once it warms up a bit. It's a student of mine's. It should be pretty fun to fly.

That looked like a blast; density altitude about -3000! The Apollo Fox looks like a nice bird, how's it compare w/ the 701?
@mmatt11 күн бұрын
It doesn't get off the ground as quickly as the 701 and the landing roll is a bit longer too but it's still plenty STOL enough for the places I like to land now that it has VGs installed. It cruises about 20mph faster than the 701 and I find it a bit more comfortable to sit in. The visibility isn't quite as good and the cockpit feels a little smaller due to a lack of the big bubble doors that the 701 has. It has dual control sticks instead of one center stick and the brakes are a hand lever instead of differential toe brakes.

It's been 9 degrees down here in Tennessee today! I don't understand how people seem to get so used to this. Not going to get above freezing for 3 days. I'm ready to move to Florida or somewhere warmer. Flying sure is fun in cold weather though! How you like the E-prop?
@mmatt11 күн бұрын
It takes a few weeks to get used to it but then when spring comes, 40°F degrees feels like summer! I have the Warp Drive prop, not the eProp. Although I'd love to try one someday. Just gotta save up a bunch of pennies first! The Warp Drive is currently working great though and I love how rugged it is which I'm sure will prove useful in the summer when I'm off-roading. :-)

I had eProp. It was very good 👍, quite and power, and perfect balance (I had a lot to compare with). But I used it with my moto paragliding equipment.

Is this the plane you installed the Rotax clone? If so, how many hours on it now?
@mmatt11 күн бұрын
No, that was a Zenith 701. I'm not sure how many hours are on it now but I do know that it's still going strong with no issues reported that I know of.

are the govt bedwetters going to hassle you about the touque?

Not this time. :-) Helmets are only required in Basic Ultra-lights. This one is registered as an Advanced Ultra-light.

@mmatt, Great landing, what location is this lake, and even longitude and latitude, if possible, I would like to fly this in the sim, in a Freedom Fox, thanks in advance.
@mmatt10 күн бұрын
It's a river actually, the Saint John River in New Brunswick. We took off from CCD3 (which isn't on the default sim database but it can be downloaded on flightsim"dot"to) and flew south down the river to 45.890358, -66.998571

Wow that plane doesn’t need much distance to get airborne. I grew up “up the river”, St.André which is near Grand Falls, wife is from Aroostook. Say high to Pierre O. if he’s still in Woodstock. 👍

@@fly-n-m9445 I'm quite happy with its STOL performance, it should be a really fun plane to go adventuring in this summer! Stop in and say hi if you're ever in the area!

@@mmatt Thanks so much, but I just remembered that MSFS 2020, does not have frozen lakes, or any bodies, of water, it is impossible, to achieve. I might just have to pick, another video, of yours's to fly, any suggestions?
