@paulbuxtom51207 ай бұрын
It’s a shame that people come out with rubbish as ice baths are very beneficial. Dopamine goes up, 100km of veins and arteries get a vascular shunt that keeps them healthy. I and many people do it as we feel fantastic afterwards and it only blunts muscle growth if you do it immediately after training. Furthermore My heart rate drops 10 beats for 2 hours afterwards and my blood pressure is like a child since doing them in combination with saunas.
@Kep199017 ай бұрын
You like ice baths? Cool. So punny.

Pedantic math correction: a 350% increase in a given quantity would mean 4.5x, not 3.5x. 3.5x would be calculating 350% of his metabolism, which is different from a *350% increase* in metabolism. Calculating a % is different to calculating a % change.

I tried cold water plunging this winter and did it for about a month and really didn't see much of anything. I got up to where I was doing 4 minutes and consistently did it every other day which is pretty much what was recommended. For me personally I don't really see it but if it works for other people go for it.

Lane love the videos. I am though very surprised you said you’re only at 2000 cal a day I would’ve figured about 2500. All the best.
@brdskeprisery81407 ай бұрын
I would expect Layne at 2000 or 2500, but kcal not cal ... that is calorie is 1/1000 kilocalorie, so if the guy in the video is saying 1600 calories (the text shows that), then it is 1,6 kcal. 1,6 kcal (1600 cal) is 0,08 % of 2000 kcal daily allowance.
@Melesniannon7 ай бұрын
@@brdskeprisery8140 That isn't a useful contribution. The term "calorie" in dietary information and science has referred to the 'large calorie' or kilocalorie for longer than I can remember. Whenever people talk about food and "calories" it's understood that they refer to kcal.
@Melesniannon7 ай бұрын

@MagnificentEleven6 ай бұрын
Another great video, as always, Dr. Norton. You mentioned your BMR is 2000 per day? I would have thought it would be higher given your size and height. Is that what you eat every day or is that when you are in a deficit? Those BMR calculators online always tell me I should have 2500-2900, even though I'm 54, 6'2" at 190 with moderate activity. If you are at 2000, then what the calculator told me seems to be an over estimation and explains why I can never lose any weight even at a deficit.
