Then draw on top of every frame of the 3D animation by hand like usual 2D animation. I think that's the technique used for this scene, the computer-smooth camera interpolation gives that away.

The dodgeball thing happens to me too; My class had a (modified) dodgeball for winning a competition. The game was like normal dodgeball but if you are out, you go the opponents ‘dead’ area, and in this area you can still get people on the opponent’s side out (so you have to dodge balls from both sides). I was one of the last standing. Three balls are thrown at me (or more idk) from both sides. Dodged the first, dodged the second, but I saw I third from the corner of my eye; I had seconds to react. I dodged it by mere millimeters; I felt INVINCIBLE. Then I felt it, a dodgeball to the face. But how, I asked myself; turns out that another was thrown straight at me and hit me in the face. The dodgeball to the face didn’t count, but the opponents knew to attack when I was confused. And that (to the 1 person who read this whole thing) Is how I lost that dodgeball game

I've always thought the "catching" rule in dodgeball is really stupid. If you don't have ridiculous strength to throw fast, dangerous (injuring) throws, you have 2 options: A: throw at their ankles/lower legs with really bad odds of hitting, or B: throw at them normally and suffer a 50% chance that they catch and you're just out. It really makes the game suffer from excessive injury, gatekeeping, and a lack of cool dodges.

3:31 I have a dodgeball story So there was this one time at the Space Center where after a meeting me and all my other coworkers were gathered up to play free for all dodgeball, and I'm terrible at dodgeball, I'm very frail. So I came up with a strategy. I just stood near the steps where everyone who is out is. But I stayed within the gym lines on the floor so I was technically still in the court and not in the out area. And my plan worked and everyone ignored me while I just stood there. Then at last there was just one person left, it was the guy who kept winning every match. And the guy was like "I win!" And then I stepped forward and was like "nuh-uh I'm still in" and he's like "What??? I thought you were out?" And I point to the weird lines on the floor that every gym has and I'm like "nope, I never got out." And so he angrily rushes up to me, raises the ball up, and throws it directly down into my arms. I catch it and smile up at him and it takes him and everyone a moment to process what just happened until everyone who's out stands up and cheers because I technically just won by catching it. It was so cool! And the guy looked really embarrassed and turned bright red. It was kinda silly, but that's the one time I've won dodgeball! 😄
