It is very interesting that Prometheus took so many elements from AVP. An old man named weyland searching for answers, entering an ancient structure, ancient symbols on the walls, weyland is killed by the beings he encounters there, group of people who die one by one, the aliens are bred and hunted by predators/ engineered by the space jockeys, the female lead survives after losing her love interest whom is an archaeologist, predalien/deacon chest burst at the end of the film. And both had dismal sequels which ruined the possibility of a third sequel.

This movie lied to me when it showed on TV the clip of 3 predators vs 1,000 aliens atop a pyramid. Then when I saw the movie it's just a flashback while a Bulgarian guy is giving exposition.

The early 2000s were a great time for the franchise honestly. Exploring new territory with the Alien Vs Predator films, the special edition DVDs (that came with a demo of AVP2!), Predator: Concrete Jungle... and the fandom online was just exploding. I'm right with you guys, the hype was real back in the day. AVP was one of the first to do proto-production diary videos, and I ate up every single one of them.

I think there were only 2 things that bothered me when the movie was first released. #1: It not being rated R. #2: when the first 2 predators are killed fairly quickly back to back, leaving only one predator for the rest of the movie. As I watched it again over the years, neither of those things continued to bother me. Just an example of expectations affecting the first viewing experience. I know this rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, but I really enjoyed the team-up with the predator. It's actually a highlight of the film. For me, it makes sense. They're both the last of their group, confined in a space with a bunch of aliens, with the odds leaning towards them being overtaken and killed. It just feels natural to me, that they might take a chance and work together to survive. As always, great episode everyone.

Saw it in the cinema when i was a teenager too. Didn't think much of it at the time. My opinion of it only went down on subsequent viewings. I honestly find AVPR more entertaining in a so bad it's fun kind of way.

Honestly, it’s disheartening to see that AVP Galaxy overlooked individuals like LHZ Hunter, who had a vision and hope for an AVP revival. LHZ Hunter worked hard to bring esports into the mix, organizing numerous teams and players to create an engaging entertainment show with masks and cosplayers as a central event. Disney could have potentially made a significant profit from such initiatives. It’s unfortunate that there was a lack of support and recognition for his efforts. The focus seemed to be on lore and movies rather than supporting initiatives that could benefit both the business side and the health of professional players, as well as the broader AVP community. This neglect and disregard contributed to his decision to step away, which is a loss for the franchise. I reviewed the chat logs on AVP Galaxy, where requests for support were declined or ignored same thing i saw with facebook avp communties, with the apparent focus remaining solely on lore and movies. This narrow approach is detrimental and reflects why the franchise struggles. There is a disconnect between the community’s complaints and the lack of care for the current state of the franchise, which receives only sporadic content updates. This gap in understanding and support is a significant factor in the franchise’s decline.

Saw this movie as a kid in the theater in Berkeley back in the 2000’s. Loved it & thought it was awesome, until I rewatched it later on & its…Fine. Lol I do wish it was more like the comics, set in the future then in current modern day. I do wish chopper fought a xeno with those long blades on his side wrist gauntlets. I liked seeing Grid as a leader Xeno leading the pack & missed opportunity to see Scar kill it to avenge his fallen brethren. I do wonder if the original avp predalien was gonna turn into that one predalien concept art & not the one we saw in AVPR. I thank this movie for existing cause I would never have found you guys & stuck with yall after all these years later! Here’s to hope we get another & much highly improved AVP live action film, and or the unreleased Anime still sitting in wait. Remember, Whoever Wins…We Lose!

Always kinda liked this, it's a nice movie, though the PG-13 rating clearly didn't help, and the music sucks. This could've been more like "At the Mountains of Madness", but they kinda wanted to go the cheap way, without making it look bad. I also like the sequel, though only for the action/horror, it does entertain, everything else tjough isn't good. New comics, new game, and new movie, but clearly disconnected from what came before, and for the love of god, quality-wise, do the right thing, including R-Rating.

Alien has officially been Star Warsed, man those callbacks really ruined the film
@BisatFilm3 ай бұрын
It's not perfect, but it's still an underrated film unfairly despised.The movie sensibly expands the lore of the predators by showing us the customs of this specific clan, it uses the plot of "At the mountains of madness" by Lovecraft as a basis, it has a strong and not OP female protagonist, it has beautiful settings and the pratical and cgi effects have aged very well... Ok many fans wanted a sort of "Aliens + some appearances of the predators" like in the video game, but wouldn't it have been more banal considering that in 2004 predator had a still weak lore and only two cinematic chapters? The perfect avp for me would be the one from the 2010 video game, a mix of the setting of Aliens and that of AvP. Many like to call it non-canon(although there are explicit references to it in the Predator sequels), when in fact it has more respect for the two creatures compared to Scott's prequels and The Predator.
