So far iChang cook common Malay-Malaysian dishes. We still have Indian-Malaysian, Chinese-Malaysian, even Iban, Kadazan, Murut, Melanau, Dusun have their own traditional dishes, beside dishes by country (masakan negeri) such as patin gulai tempoyak (Pahang), various laksas (Kedah, Penang, Johor, Sarawak), asam pedas (Melaka), gulai cili api daging salai (Negeri Sembilan), nasi dagang (Terengganu), mi kolok (Sarawak), etc.

iChang, i have a Malaysian tip for you! To eat the nasi 'compressed rice', just use the satay sticks to poke the rice and pick it up. That way you won't have to get your hands dirty. Loved it. My kids miss Malaysian satay so I'm going to take inspiration from you and make some myself. Both of you always seem to have so much patience with the long preparation process. I'm impressed that Jimmy fried and ground the peanuts, rather than buying ready-made paste. To stop the bugs I always leave my spices in their plastic packets and store them (and flour and sometimes rice) in the fridge. If you dont have space for all your jars in the fridge you could put the ones you don't use often in. But you have to be careful where you bought them from. Sometimes the shop didn't store them well or they are old already when you buy them.

Hey @iChangRM, 1. you need to fried (tumis) those blended ingredients + chili paste, until the oil split it's or Msian called it 'pecah minyak'... This to ensure caramelization of the onions to make more sweeter & get rid of the pungent smell of the chili paste (also lower the spice level) 2. Use blanched peanut instead & fry those. If using skin one, fry the peanut without oils until bit darken, you can remove the skin using colander or by hands (careful it hottsss)

Hello! Jimmy. Hello! IChang. To simplify the satay recipe use sugar and vinegar, stir them well to your taste and later on add turmeric powder. Marinate the meat in the mixture and put it in the refrigerator for sometime. Later skew the. Marinated meat, skew and grill.
I really want to know what was your neighbours reaction? The smell flooded the neighbourhood and it is a foreign smell. Hope the police did not come. Please give us feedback. Chicken satay is the best, not beef. I do go hunting for satay. I only rate chicken satay for my friends to know. The sauce is important too. The perfect combination is chicken satay and great peanut sauce. Most of the time the sauce will failed, some how they put less emphasis on the sauce. That is a big mistake. Even the cut of cucumber is important, it has to be thick enough to have a crunch which again some seller failed too.
