ICO - Unseen beta levels

More Nomad goodness ; )
Using the debug menu in the NTSC version I show some of those levels you can access via the 'Stage Select' option.
Most are accessible, but a couple require some emulator tweaking such as 'Deja' which was unseen until now (as it always froze).
Credit to Einstein95 for obtaining the original demo that contained the debug menu and especially to Fibre who ported the debug menu to the final version (both PAL and NTSC). Note: Fibre was also responsible for supplying us with the original Codebreaker codes for ICO which included the 'free camera' mode and the 'walk on air' codes (amongst others).

@ 8:30 it looks like they're crying and constantly trying to wipe their tears away. When you do interact with them, they don't actually fight you, they just run away when you try to hit them. It's as if they want to tell you something but you just swing away and use their essence as sacrifice to open the door in the game I mean.

I don’t know if this is obvious or not, but they are the children who were previously sacrificed in the living tombs, and would have been Ico’s fate if it wasn’t for the earthquake that freed him.

Years later and we're still finding out more about the game. If TLG is ever released I hope the devs throw in plenty of beta areas, secrets and easter eggs for dedicated fans to discover.

When you're focusing on the shadow creatures standing over Yorda, it looks like they're crying, at least to me. Granted, we know they're being forced to act against their will by the Queen.

Heres a fact about how the save sofa works. In game there are two sofa models, one is the solid stone as seen in ba_test and the other is transparent blue. The transparent blue sofa normally overlays the stone sofa to give the sofa you see in game. The one in ba_test is missing the outer transparent layer.

You know, with The Last Guardian now out, you'll have many years of finding missing beta levels that were cut from the final game. Of course, someone will have to invent an emulator powerful enough to play PS4 games first.

Yes, and until that time I'll just have to post my thoughts in my blog as I can't show anything unique via video. I have found one small bug though in TLG, so that's a start ; )

I'm totally psyched with hearing about your thoughts of TLG on your blog. I've been constantly checking it for updates since the game's release in the US. I also found out that an emulator for PS4 games does exist, but it hasn't been perfected yet. I also hope that you'll be making size comparisons between the Trico and the smaller Colossi, like Celosia, Cenobia, and Kuromori.

Speaking of Yorda's tower, have you ever used debug to see if there's anything behind the door at the top when her cage is still up there? I wouldn't think there would be anything of real note (given it was likely never meant to be used at all, but it'd be fun to know if anything is there or just the usual "void" when peeking behind the set.

I explored this door in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpbSZKSirL5lms0 Jump to 06:55 and you will see a comparison between the spiral ramp in Shadow of the Colossus and Ico - both have a door at the top of the ramp, and both are locked!

I am amazed at the amount of quality content you put out. Was wondering if you ever felt like doing a treatment of this sorts to Skyrim? like a follow up to that one video you uploaded. I was very interested in those.

Thanks, I think I will explore more of Skyrim. I have already seen some levels that are revealed in low res form - nothing special, I don't think there are any 'unseen' levels or objects we have not seen before. Seems the developers were very tidy about leaving any left over models out in the void... but I'll keep searching ; )
