Great video I liked the troubleshooting sequence, passive voice and instructional video. I wish there was a part 2 video to see actual repair done to replace compressor. great job

I find your videos so interesting. Love the way you analyze the situation and take the owner into account. You sound like a very friendly guy.

More people need to realize what they're working on doesn't belong to them. Very respectable!

I like ur methods for troubleshooting. Respectfully there r 2 other things I do. I check the leads on the compressor w/o removing them from the contactor and I check the refrigerant for burn damage aka burnout.

Good video, I’d really hate to be the guy to criticize but I’m going to tell a quick story, When I was a helper, lead tech and I went on a call just like this but on an old rheem condenser with the big L shaped door covering the compressor and the electrical. The lead tech had a stinken habit of resetting breakers without checking for shorted wires and components first. Just to cut to the chase, I was kneeling right next to the unit when he reset the breaker without communicating that to me or testing for potential electrical shorts. The compressor came on for about 5 seconds then shot out the terminals and damn near sprayed oil and refrigerant on my face. Since then, when I walk up on a unit with an active contactor I check power to ground, if there is no power then I check ohms to ground BEFORE I go resetting breakers just to see what happens, you all ready know what happened, the breaker blew which means there’s a short. I just believe that’s the best thing to do.

I'm in PA and my HVAC company of 30 years puts the AC filter drier inside, a couple feet from the furnace. Is there a reason to put it outside instead? Or doesn't it matter?

For all the current and future ac techs, that’s the way to analyze and explain in detail about a piece of equipment that has failed. Just wondering was the compressor under warranty or out? I failed to notice the date this was videoed.

Would you swap the Evap coil also in this situation in addition to the condenser?

I found a compressor only 5 years old the other day and it was toast. Also found one that was replaced 6 months prior and it was shorted to ground. 🤷♂

Oh that would tick me off much having a compressor crap out this soon. You know it was put together wrong when it was built if that happens so soon, grounded out. Maybe this has a ten year warranty or only 5 year ?

That's a shame... But a good thorough diagnosis even if it isn't the outcome the customer wanted!
