I like 👍 the sound of the three colored display on this. It would give me an extra challenge to build this radio 📻. I’m glad it features an extra bass speaker 🔊. If I come by buying one ☝️ of these in my future, I hope 🤞 it comes with instructions. Your friend, Jeff.

just watch out for extra diodes. apparently there was an upgrade to the kit, and it is not on the instructions. I believe there are three of them, and are pretty easy to figure out which ones go where on the PCB. just make sure to get the orientation correct.

Mr. Todderbert Sir you have skills. Thanks for sharing these DIY videos, they are enjoyable to watch. I recently bought the Elenco practice kit to learn to solder better. There are 3 or 4 kits you have showed, that I want to build. Looks like the kit with the 18650 makes a better radio. As always thanks.

Built this, when I power up i get the main screen but not able to control anything or get any sound. The frequency and volume indicators are blank. A single led briefly lights up on boot up.

You will have to contact ICStation. They changed some of the components on this kit since I built mine.

I WOULD PUT TWO PART APEX TO HOLD THE ANTENNA AFTER SOLDERING TO KEEP IT IN PLACE I TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE OF MY BAD EYESIGHT

Seems they could have included a head phone jack since it is stereo.

I built mine but for some reason the display isn’t showing the fm frequency or the volume level. Do you know how to fix this?

May have to contact ICStation. They made a change to the kit, and you may have the updated version with three extra diodes that need to be installed.

@@todderbert yea I just realized that and I fixed the kit but I still can’t tune the channels it’s stuck on channel 123.7

Everything is working for me but the actual audio part, there's no sound at all. Do you know what could be wrong and what I could do to fix it?

You could go over all the solder points, check polarity of parts, speaker wiring, ect. Also contact ICStation to see if they will help. They have made changes to this kit since I built it.

The kit is now provided with 3 diodes that are not referenced in the instructions. The kit in this video does not have any place for these diodes. The kit provided today does have a place for these 3 diodes. Without these diodes, the kit will not work. The diodes are (2) 1N4007 rectifier diodes and (1) 3 volt zener diode.

Hi Tom. Do you know where the diodes go on the newer board. D11, D12 and D13? I have those diodes but not sure exactly where they go on the board.

@@turtlekoff1 the 2 1N4007 rectifier diodes go in the first two positions going from top to bottom that are marked 1N4007 next to the holes. The remaining glass Zener diode goes in the holes marked 3V. If I remember correctly, the area where these Diodes go is just left of center.

@@tomcrocker608 I think I may of blown something as I powered it up without those diodes on the board and never saw any FM Freq show up. Put the diodes as you advised and it powers up but no change. Live and learn I suppose.
