The 63 drag link you compare to is from a 6 cylinder Falcon steering assembly (7.45 minute mark). Totally different from a 63-64 V8 steering drag link. No question that 65 steering geometry is very desirable. 65 Falcon/Comet steering components do not play well with 63.5-64 spindles. 63.5-64 Falcon V8 steering also does not work well with Granada spindles. I have both Granada disc brakes and CSRP Kelsey-Hayes knock off brakes on my Falcon/Comet collection (all have 65 steering geometry) and honestly can not say one steers better than the other. When Granada stuff was cheap it was the way to go. The CSRP kit would be the only way I would recommend today. I use the same alignment specs with both braking systems. On alignments specs I have found the critical spec is toe. The closer you can get to 1/16" toe-in the better. It would be easy to bash Ford for the 63.5-64 V8 steering geometry, but one must remember the stock wheel and tire size was 6:50 x 13". Not a whole lot of contact patch between the tire and the road so feed back was negligible.

If I can come up with a set of Granada spindles we will. Those are getting like Hens teeth. I'll check with a few of my buddies around here and see if we can get a set in. The differences between the '65 spindle and the Granada are pretty pronounced wen placed beside each other.

Hey Moe, we looked at it, but our timing is off for that one. We have more event coverage planned but the Run to the Sun was moved to next year.

So, what are the correct pieces I need to upgrade my 1962 Falcon steering and suspension to 1965/66 Mustang specs? Its a 200/C4 sedan. I do have a complete 1965 Mustang 6 cylinder power steering system. Can I bolt it on to this car or are there any modifications needed to use it? Thanks in advance for the help.

My 64 Falcon hard top v8 and t10 had 5 lug 650-13s when I bought it in 1968. I installed f70-14s radials. I had a progressive alignment shop align the car. There was no numbers for the car with radials. To this day I have not had a car drove that well. The car was hell in the snow. When I sold it with 160,000 miles it had a cracked upper "A" arm out of the shock attach holes. Were the 14" and 260 to heavylfor the upper arms?

HI I have a 1963 falcon convt.was a 6cyl. Changed two a 302 still have 6cyl spindles changed lower control arms to tubular cpp.Mini sub frame Can I use C5DZ 3304A drag link on car also do I need to change tie rod ends to 65 or use 63 trying for better handling and alianement also have UCA drop on car and yes 8cyl springs I think I m almost there but could use your help thanks for your time Pool man 63

Honestly, get a set of V8 spindles. You can get the ball joints for the V* to put in the arms. Then you can update to the 65 drag link, pitman arm and inner and outer tierods.

I'd go with an aftermarket bolt on kit. Rod and Custom Motorsports offers a kit for 419.00 as of December 2020: rcmotorsportsinc.com/product/rc-132-11%E2%80%B3-disc-brake-conversion-for-early-60-70-mid-size-fords/ Also convert it over to dual reservoir master cylinder while you are in there.

couldnt i find si.ilar spindles at a junk yard from any car as long as specs are close and take all components and slap it on to my 63 ranchero?
@AutoRestoMod3 жыл бұрын
Not really. New ones are available though and you can slap aftermarket brakes on those.

Also '65 tie rods are a buttload cheaper and more widely available than the 63-64's!

Yes. We'll get into that section of this when we start the conversion to V8.
