Just plain brilliance..... Both the movie and your ideology analysis... Manikandan's movies are always introspective of our beliefs, truth, our fake masks, etc..... It is important to note that in all the movies, the characters (or atleast the main characters) are always in the journey of realising their flaws / unhonesty and through sufferings moving on to the right path which is rewardive. Examples: 1. Kaaka muttai - the kids should have aimed for betterment in life, but as kids yearn for a pizza and in the process forget about the status of the family (their dad in prison) and loses their aayaa (grandma) only to realise that the aayaa sutta dosa was much better than the taste of the pizza they got... Now, thereon they can be clear on the correct path to yearn for and not budge into the fake euphoria of the universe. 2. Kutrame Thandanai - already explained in this beautiful video, but still adding my thoughts. Viddharth makes the crime and through that crime, gets the punishment of being full blind forever... But in the path of this realisation, he finally gets married to Pooja, who inspite of losing her job due to Viddharth and even after knowing he is blind, agrees to marry and moves to Kolkatta and takes care of him.. 3. Aandavan Kattalai - A funny story but lot to introspect.... Gandhi (VJS) is continuously in trouble when he has to cover his lie (marriage to an imaginary Karmegakuzhali mentioned in the passport)... He finally is redeemed only when he accepts the truth to the passport officer... The reward - he goes on the trip to UK with the Naaser troop and very convincingly marries Karmegakuzhali and doesn't have to remove her name !!!! - What more can you aim for.... 4. Kadaisi Vivasayi - Here Manikandan makes a big U Turn and gives us a protagonist who is so pure (Nallandi ayya) and makes everyone else in the village, the police, the judge and even a jailmate to introspect and bring about a change in them.... His grandson realises his mistake of killing a peacock in some other occassion... The villagers are ashamed of not knowing agriculture and instead sleeping in 100 day job offered by the government... The police who frame an innocent man... the judge who knows the truth but can't save the old man because of documentation and procedure. But here's the twist - in this movie we, the audience also get to introspect a lot (in all movies, but this one in particular) - I felt awkward of not realising the efforts of a vivasayi to bring food into our plates... I felt ashamed to have lived so near to them, yet not realising their value (I am from Madurai very close to the Usilampatti village documented beautifully in the movie)... The culture, the tradition of our very soil which we have become ignorant about... Lots and lots to introspect... I wish Manikandan a very healthy and prosperous future and more importantly a soulful life to get to make movies like the above. Sorry, if you think the comments are very long...
