It makes me so mad that the producers refuse to cast Idina and Kristin in the live action Wicked movie because "they're too old"! Espcially since Idina is fighing so hard for the role and actually WANTS to do it again, I know Kristin would do it in a heart beat as well! The magical, powerful chemistry they have, NO ONE can even come close to it. They truly had something rare and beautiful and it would be ICONIC to see it again on screen! Their chemistry beats any young actors they might find for the movie!
@breeze5459

its not that the producers refused the role for them, Even Idina and Kristin already discussed it themselves that they're too old. Kristin ask idina about the role, but idina shouted surprisingly (they were calling each other) that they're too old for the role themselves

Being too old doesn’t matter. Idina and Kristen still sing, act and dance as if they’re young and CGI exists so they can make them look as if they were in their 20’s again.

I loved every second of this interview. I think Idina felt comfortable around the interviewers--she was very open and honest throughout. (I mean she always is in interviews but there was this aura of vulnerability in this one.) I especially liked the bit where the interviewer asked Idina about one of her Christmas songs, the one about acceptance. I can feel Idina's gratefulness through the screen, and I felt how important that song is for her. Ugh i lovd this so much

1:35 she has a Long Island accent naturally While Elsa is more neutral and needs some work 22:13 what goes into training for Elsa 4:20 when saying in a lot of those area like churches and whatnot, you build a thicker skin cus people dint really listen to you And so instead to sing for yourself, = and thus focus on trying different things with your style and develop your own mood 6:30 idina is able to change things up at lives without too much rehearsal because of her days where people didn’t really listen to her Because she welcomes mistakes and enjoys them - While other sings don’t like them and so rehearse a ton in order to change things up at lives 9:25 when younger she was more confident But nowadays prob because of success it makes you feel like you have more to lose so more anxiety 12:00 when vulnerable you can connect with audience better and being comfortable in vulnerability Is hard cus well you’re vulnerable 12:50 ways to get out of her head 14:20 realizing what’s important in life Gives perspective in success and live performances 15:28 perspective on how fleeting the idea of success is 26:35 3 years to make frozen 2 out of the 6 years hiatus 3 years just living life 41:40 her vocals get stronger even as getting older if she sings ALOT with good technique It’s all about singing a lot

This was a fantastic interview, Zach. Idina seemed so comfy and down-to-earth throughout the whole segment. It's a shame that I used to live in San Francisco when Wicked debuted and I missed out on the Broadway magic Kristin and Idina gave the world. I did see her in the film adaptation of Rent which she's fantastic. From Maureen to Elphaba to Elsa, I'm pleased that Idina got to work on a pivotal role (still doing so for Elsa) per project.

Its such a shame that the producers of Wicked don’t want to recast Kristin and Idina for the movie. Sadly it won’t be the same with any other Elphaba or Glinda. And the weird thing is that some of the people who’ve played them in broadway have the same age as they do. Hollywood is always ready to exchange wonderful things for ‘new’ and ‘fresh’ things and in the process they lose the authenticity and essence that made these things special. I personally can’t imagine what it would be like when people who can’t go to broadway and haven’t heard the original cast recordings, see and hear the magic of wicked in the big screen with someone other than these wonderful women. The least they could do is find people who have similar vocals. Personally I would have Brendon Urie play Fiyero cause his range is very similar to Norbert Butz’ and because he has experience being on broadway. (Idina must know Brendon Urie because he made a version of Into the Unknown and was invited to the premier of Frozen so I’m just saying 👀 it would be amazing to see that happening)
