@@adamcox6960 However, they were not on the reservation. This was land that was owned by the tribe, but outside the reservation. The road was a county road, the land was within county jurisdiction. Apparently, the tribe members have been acting like it is reservation land, and shooting game on it without permit, or out of season. They can do that on the reservation, but not outiside it. Outside the reservation, that is subject to poaching laws.

I had a run in with a drunk off duty tribal police officer once. Me and the family stopped off at the side of the highway that just so happened to be a short distance from his home. I notice this man walk out to the side of the road and stare at us for several minutes. We take off and he steps out into the road, blocks our truck and pulls out his firearm at us. It never got resolved of course, but I’ve heard horror stories of tribal police acting more outrageous than some of the most crooked state police out there. Almost like they take an advantage of their small territories not being under state jurisdiction.

The memo in that third video is a classic. It quotes a federal regulation saying that people are ALLOWED to photograph building entrances, lobbies, corridors, et cetera... and then, in the very next sentence, instructs officers to tell people that they are NOT allowed to do so. The cop also apparently missed the fine print at the bottom which says the memo should absolutely NOT be shared with the public.

The uniformed policeman was a State Trooper, his designated patrol area includes Interstate Highways in NJ. They were on an Interstate Highway in NJ. Sheriff's Officers CAN patrol highways, but it is not generally expected, and it DEFINITELY is not expected to see Plain-Clothes Sheriffs patrolling the highways. The State Trooper was right, and the Highway is his "turf", and he is EXPECTED to investigate someone doing what these guys were doing. He pulled up on some guys in plain clothes carrying weapons, and pulling over a car in an area that has had carjacking by police impersonators. Again.... they had guns, so he he pulled his own gun. All they had to do was identify themselves and say "Thanks for helping us keep citizens safe brother".... but no, they got a bug up their ass.

I think the federal officer handled himself pretty well considering he was surrounded and detained for 5 hrs and the tribal police couldn't really articulate what they were going to do. He's a federal officer and usually issues on Indian tribal lands are handled by the feds. I have Chickasaw in my family so I certainly am sympathetic to the Native Americans. But I have to admit that was messed up. 🥴

Here in England, a plain 'police' car cannot stop you. They can ask you to stop, but you can refuse, and they have to call in a marked police car. Many times, police in plain cars HAVE stopped drivers, but if it all goes wrong, in court, they're going to struggle.

I agree with Steiner. What most people miss in this confrontation is the important thing the Game Warden said..... This is NOT reservation land. It is land outside the reservation that is owned by the tribe. Tribal law has no jurisdiction over such land. What happened is that the reservation boundaries were set by treaty, and afterward the tribe got together, pooled some money and bought additional land outside the reservation to act as a "buffer". They have normal property rights over that land just like any American Citizen, but they do not exercise Tribal authority over it.

100%, he was there to provoke that reaction for clicks. Uniformed FPS took the bait. Guarantee the SA was on the uniform's side and just wanted to get the camera guy out of the building quickly and quietly. Good use of deescalation skills.

@@dkroll92 You can tell by her body language that internally she really did not like the cameraman, and resented spending time on the issue. Nevertheless, she did her job correctly (credit to her). The cameraman did his job also.... the first policeman is now aware of the law, and probably won't treat anyone else this way.
