Idle Champions - Seat 6 Tier List & Overview

Two notes about DM. When I started, he was the new champion. Early, when you have below 30 champions, any restrictions hurt since you don't have viable substitutes and, you may even fail to fill your 10 slots. I would recommend him as the first champion to unlock since he makes variants easier for noobs, just be aware that he gets less useful when you have other options around restrictions. I rarely used the Guest Star past my 60th champion. Also, his gold find specialisation is quite good, when you lack the roster to set up synergies. Too bad that it collapse when you hit the wall.

@@tyredack I completely agree, by the tabletop rules design wouldn't necessarily work, especially with the amount of character variety they are going for. But it was very fun to learn how the Eldritch Knight could play - by the rules - with the build they were emulating.

I had other stuff I planned to watch before work, but then I saw this went up and I had been anticipating it too much to not watch. I got so much to say about seat 6. I would actually up Asharra a bit, but your placement for her is perfectly fine. She's somewhat restrictive, but each of her specs results in a really interesting but no less powerful team comp, because each spec has some truly great champions in it. Plus, it's great that one of the high tier DPS champs is a core champ. I agree with basically everything you said about Alyndra. A great character who's boxed into a powerful seat, who needs a bit too much positioning to make work. I freak out every time I see a spot with exactly three spots adjacent to it because I go ALYNDRA TIME and Alyndra all over those enemies. I generally always try to use her with at least Widdle at the very least, but the more I can use with her the better, and I'm almost always using those guys anyway. Fun fact: Dungeon Master is why I started playing. I thought it was really cool that they added such an iconic and charming part of DnD history to Idle Champs and I wanted to have him on my account. Now look at me, with 900+ hours (because sometimes I accidentally leave the game on when I fall asleep oops). Anyway, his age buff gives me no end of headaches. I was gonna save this for later, but I wanna bring it up now when it's relevant; I can't tell you how many times I looked at Penelope in seat 12 and thought "oh, perfect, I can use her with DM to trigger his age buff", only to realize _PENELOPE IS 31._ Now don't get me wrong i actually do prefer my characters to be adults, but god damn everything about this character lead me to believe she was supposed to be kind of a kid, but I guess not. Weird. Anyway, a helpful user on Reddit broke down how to make use of DM's age buff and build around it. Basically, you want either Spurt or Qillek (or both) because Spurt is 0 and Qillek is 3. Then there's a list of champions in other slots that suffice, but most slots only have one, maybe two. The two Warforged are good, and Blooshi counts. Havilar and Farideh both count, so maybe there's something there. Anyway, it's not thati mportant. He's mostly useful for smuggling in cheaters. That's the best part, even if it is a little agonizing to reset the mission over and over. I love Evelyn. I bought her Ascendent skin early on, it's so fucking good. But yeah, she's average at best. Not a lot of reason to use her. She stinks of year 1. Krond is my BOY, and based on your love of half-orcs and eldritch knights, you too are my BOY. Literally, if Krond was Good and was buffed based on Good characters instead of Evil, he would be my god-tier GOAT DPS just because I tend to prefer heroes over villains, but I also realize that if he was buffed by Good champions, he'd be fucking busted because there's so, so many of those. Him being Evil and needing Evil teammates is kind of a safety valve. Nothing to say about Krond other than literally every aspect of him besides that appeals specifically to me. Every single day, I curse the skies that Krond shares a seat with Krull. They would be best friends. Reya is why I wish we'd get more LG DPS. As of right now we only have Drizz't and Binwin, meaning we only have Drizz't. That said, she makes for a great addition to a Companions of the Hall team, because they're almost all Good anyway (fucking Regis). Also, can we talk about how the way her ult is written bothers me? Why is "SLAMMING" in all caps, who got super excited about Reya's ult. It stands out so much to me. No one else's ult is written like that. I don't have a lot to say about Knox and Shandie other than they're both very cool. Halfling rogues are neat and big tough old man fighters are also neat. I just like 'em both. I might try using Shandie in an Artemis formation more now that you brought that up. Given that I use Zorbu with him, I already try to lean heavily on high Dex DPS to support Artemis, so she fits in perfectly.

I appreciate you choosing to watch this over something else! *Asharra* - I know a lot of people will probably think she deserves to be higher, and I understand, but I rate restrictions pretty harshly in a game like this because Patrons, Variants, and Trials are so important. Since her nerf that 4/4 is pretty steep, especially for newer players who she was kind of designed for. Though, I still think she's very good. *Alyndra* - I do love her too. Making the best Affiliation even better is just amazing tbh. If only she wasn't competing in a Seat with Krull. I'm still holding out that one day we'll get a DPS for the Heroes of the Planes to makes everything fall in place. *DM* - I always thought it was cool they pulled from the show. After him and NERDS I'm very curious the next out of left field Champion they'll add. I do wish it was worth using him normally, but his Guest Star is so valuable I'm glad he gets use either way. And yeah, Penelope certainly gives off that sense of childlike wonder, but that's what makes her adorable. *Evelyn* - I agree that she looks great on screen, if only there was a reason to put her there. *Krond* and *Krull* - I so wish they could be used together. This pairing specifically is why I want a future Champion to completely break the game and work like... I guess a combo of DM and Xerophon. Their only purpose to bring in a Champion from a Seat that's already in use. *Reya* - Yeah, I have no idea with her ultimate. I always figured it was a reference to something that was going over my head. *Shandie* and *Knox* - A lot of Artemis' crew tend to have the DEX requirement (Krydle, Cattie-Brie, Zorbu, Birdsong, Torogar) and some also give off that extra Neutral/Evil for that Agile Allies Specialization to boot (Artemis himself, Bridsong, Torogar). And Knox is cool, I just wish he had a slight extra oomph somewhere, though with his Core Champions synergy he does have his own kinda niche, I guess.

"This birb can serve". This and seat 11 feel like the most competitive. I decided to invest in Krond because hammer go bink but it was hard giving up asharra/krond/shandie.

I agree, 11 is for sure the other most competitive. Krond is a good boy, might one day make the plunge and invest in him just because I love him. It's specifically Seat 6 and Seat 11 that make me so badly want them to introduce a game breaking character that can slot Champions from other Seats, but that will never happen. Krond + Krull would be a fun time.

Very informative video. Admittedly the only time I use Evelyn is in my Brimstone Crew build, consisting of all Waffle Crew & Brimstone Angels members as well as Makos, Talin, Hew Mann & Deekin. I just wish I had Mehen's "Adoptive Father" feat to have him count as a 6th Tiefling for Hew Maan.

I used to only use Krull, except for speed, but they've made some great additions to the slot after nerfing him. I like Reya since her revamp and mostly just use Krull for gold. She doesn't have the tag, but Nerys is a viable lawful good DPS if Zorbu is unavailable. She's not quite on that top tier, but she doesn't really care who else is in the formation either.

I do still think Krull has the best pushing capability in the Seat (unless using Asharra or Krond as your DPS clearly) but I agree to a degree. Reya is pretty good. As far as Nerys, I'd never *recommend* that to someone lol, but I have been known to use Nerys as my DPS in a Patron Weekly Challenge of having a healer be your highest damage dealer in a run.

Asharra is a good one to work with, but that is always something that hurts when using her is losing out on the other strong Champions in this Seat. Asharra is still a great DPS though.

I cover it a little bit in my Overview of the game, so you can check that out if you want. Maybe I'll make a more in-depth video after the Seats, we'll see. For now, though, really one of your first goals should be unlocking "Azaka" the Evergreen Champion from the Tomb of Annihilation campaign. Her ultimate is used to be able to farm gold from creatures even when you can't kill them. So, the idea is push until you can't kill anymore, pull out the maximum gold find you can with your roster at that wall, use her ultimate to farm as much gold as you can, get that Favor. (In this video I have a timestamp called "Mini Azaka Formation Guide Kinda" where I actually do set up my personal Azaka gold farm team) As far as good Champions for it, anyone that increases your gold find for that wall. Specifically, Freely is a very popular Champion for it, who I will be covering in my next video. He is used in a lot of people's gold farm formations and *also* has a formation ability that will straight up increase your favor earned at the end of a run as long as you used him while pushing.

Krond should be S tier not high A. 2nd best DPS in the game simply can't be lower than S, even if it requires a hefty investment and some formation restrictions, which are manageable once you have a large enough roster. Also out of the top 3 DPS(along with Artemis and Asharra) he's the simplest/easiest to set up. Similarly Asharra should definitely be in A tier as she's still the 3rd best DPS even after her nerf as it just makes doesn't actually hurt her DPS all that much by replacing Hitch with Freely in her most standard formation, it just makes it even harder for variants and viable patrons. Shandie should be S tier Imho as she's incredibly for the typical speed formation and thanks to her 2 positional buffs she's amazing for Artemis, Arkhan and any other positional ability synergies and boosters, which we seem to be getting more and more of. Reya is currently B only because there aren't any good lawful good DPS out there but if one is to be released and not in her slot than she will easily become A tier.

Everyone's got their own opinion and that's fine. For the most part I can see where you're coming from, I just differ in my point of view of how I rate them. *Krond* - I fully understand why people would want him to be S of course, but simply disagree. A+ to S is a very slim line and he just doesn't quite cross over to me. Being second doesn't get you gold, and I'm harsher on restrictions than a lot of people probably. Not just in formation, but Patron and Trial availability as well. They are big sections of the game, especially to be missing who you've decided to invest in. *Asharra* - Another I can understand, but her nerf hurt her harder than you're saying for the game as a whole. I don't rate just based on how hard you can push a non-Patron Free Play. And honestly once Zorbu has a bit of farming under his belt, a Zorbu debuff team outperforms her, so I wouldn't even call her 3rd. Though they are close, or even tied for 3rd, potentially. *Shandie* - I'd understand someone giving her S, she is very good. The biggest thing against her is sharing a seat with the best debuffer in the game and 2 very popular DPS. Outside of the specific scenarios of early speed, Artie and Arkie, she's outperformed. But in those, indeed very good. *Reya* - I mean, yeah, I agree. Don't know why this was a point as that's pretty much exactly what I said. I do want to say, this isn't me telling you you're wrong, as a lot of people take it. This is just my take on why they are where they are vs. where you think they should be. Nothing wrong with disagreeing.

I am not sure if Arkhan already had usurper when you made that video, but both Krull and Torogar not having formation abilities are good for Arkhan since he can only copy buffs not affecting him but are affecting nearby allies.

Not having positional formation abilities is just objectively not good for Arkhan. Yes, he can only Ursurp those not affecting him, but he still wants every single member of your formation to have one. Bruenor is a good example to use here - Bruenor only buffs those in his column, so having him right behind Arkhan means Arkhan will Usurp his Rally, then you have every other positional buff set up to buff Bruenor so Arkhan will Usurp all of them as well. Remember Usurp takes the buffs at an *increased* rate, so any non-positional buff used is missing out on that scaling, which is Arkhan entire point. And at the end of the day, you could also take Bulk Up instead of Usurp, where you *do* want to hit Arkhan with positional buffs when he's at the front. No matter what, it's all about *positional* buffs and getting as many as you can.

I love Heroes of the plane, it just sucks that they dont have a proper DPS champion (It would fit perfectly with zorbu, but damn penelope is in seat 12)

I've always wanted a HotP DPS. Warduke isn't great for them since most of them don't have Positionals. If only Kent, Virgil, and Shaka were Chaotic they could fit right in with a mix/match of affiliations with Kent as DPS.

I am a new player but I think Evelyn can be very powerful combined with Valentine. The lvl 150 Steadfast Might increases the divine prayer by 100% for each enemy attacking her and each enemy enrage stack. If valentine duplicates this with her socialite ability, DPS champs should get an insane boost on it (since they get it twice). Or is there anything wrong with my thought? Greetings =)

Valentine only duplicates specifically the positional formation abilities, which for Evelyn is Divine Prayer. Steadfast Might does increase her output of Divine Prayer but is not altered by Valentine as Steadfast Might itself is not a position formation ability for Valentine to Socialite. Everything that affects Divine Prayer still works as normal. If you're looking for a tank in this Seat to synergize with Valentine's Socialite, Sgt. Knox will be far more effective as he focuses on positional formation abilities as well.

@@tyredack Unfortunately I don't have Sgt. Knox yet, as I've only been playing for a few days. Therefore, the combination of Evelyn and Valentine is very strong in my eyes so far :-) Above all, Valentine doesn't have to be in the second row (reserved for Baeloth), as she would have to be with Nayeli. I'm looking forward to building more formations when I have more champions. Thanks for the videos by the way, very informative.

For sure, you can only use who you have access to! The biggest thing with Valentine to remember is she only copies specifically the positional formation ability, and it's best to have all possible positional formation abilities on both her and your DPS, because while she will give all of them to your DPS, her Socialite will only boost the damage of them if the DPS already receives them. I only disagree with Krond not being S. If he is considered the 2nd best DPS, by "many", how does that not automatically make him S tier? If Artemis is an S, then are you saying every other DPS is A or below? I'm ready to join the Discord, let me know where!

I 100% understand an argument for him being put there. For me, the only reason Artie got the S is because he is at the very top, and I even mention in Seat 3 I'm tempted to not even put him there. However, Krond is a DPS and that's all he does. Artie, while also just DPS, can at least synergize with Orkira making a great debuffer debuff even more, so he gives you more utility than just DPS. Both of them, however, have very restrictive formation archetypes. In this game where a majority of your play comes from being restricted via Patrons, Variants, and Trials, those types of formations are hit even harder by that.
